Well, I think it's time for a new play post today! I have a peculiar sense of humour! I despise slapstick (unless it's really well done); I love dry humour, but most of all, I like a good "pun fest". You know the kind, where someone makes a comment about, well...let's say, a tree! And someone else says, "Oh, you're going out on a limb, eh?" And another person chimes in with, "Just leaf it alone!", and yet another person gleefully puts in, "Never mind, his bark is worse than his bite!" I love it. I'm not a quick thinker, but when I have a chance to join in with a good one, I'm up for the whole day!
So I loved writing this play about sheep and shepherds! I mean there's so much scope for great puns when you talk about sheep. So many of our expressions are based on sheep: (What does that say about us?) "Pull the wool over my eyes." "He's the black sheep of the family." And so many more.
This play is based on the Bible story of the Good Shepherd, found in John 10:1-18. We did it in costume using sheep ears and tails that our church had for children, and black socks on our hands and feet. It got a lot of laughs.
