Holiday Invitation for As You See It Challenges

There's a very underrated stamp set in the Holiday Catalogue and I wonder if you have seen it or used it yet. It has lovely formal fonts, great little accent stamps and a whole invite template in one stamp set. It's called Holiday Invitation and I decided to use it for the sentiment in my design team card for As You See It Challenges #065.  Here's the challenge:

And here is what the stamp set looks like:

It works for Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas parties, possibly New Year's parties as well.

For my design, I used another great challenge, a colour challenge from Colour Throwdown:

Early Espresso, Gold, Silver and White make a delicious colour palette - shiny, warm, cool and neutral all at once.

  • I wanted to use the Woodgrain Embossing Folder on a white panel. I love that texture, and the white on white makes it a bit more subtle. Before I embossed the white panel, I rubbed it with the Embossing Buddy to absorb any oil or take out any static electricity that might catch the embossing powder in places where I didn't want it. I stamped two of the images from Gorgeous Grunge on it with VersaMark ink then covered them with Silver Stampin' Emboss powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool. I followed the same procedure with the Be Merry stamp from Holiday Invite. I then cut a flag end in the sentiment strip.
  • The two gold stars, meant to be the eye-catchers of this card are die cut with the Stars Framelits from the Gold Foil Sheets and from the striped DSP from Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper.
  • I brought in the Early Espresso from the colour challenge through the 2-1/2" circle of Under the Tree Specialty DSP. I have it mounted flat on the card front but I did raise up the two stars using dimensionals.
  • It's a simple design, but because of the colours and the shimmer of the metallics, it looks very effective.
