Sheltering Tree for The Paper Players

Ever since I saw the Sheltering Tree stamp set at the Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Catalogue Kickoff, I loved it, but it wasn't in the budget to purchase until just recently.  And when I saw Ann Schach's lovely colour challenge over at The Paper Players, I knew this would be the stamp set I used. I think it makes me think of this beautiful story about unconditional and sacrificial love :  The Giving Tree written by Shel Silverstein.

Here's Ann's colour swatch:

This is a unique and eye-pleasing combination and perfect for this stamp set as well.

  • I kept the design simple on purpose. I think I was probably influenced by the simplicity of the story, The Giving Tree.
  • The Sheltering Tree stamp set can be used year round and I can visualize a card using 4 partial images of the tree in the four seasons of the year. Stay tuned for that one soon.
  • I used the Crisp Cantaloupe sequins from the 2013 - 15 In Colour Sequin Assortment to embellish my card for a little extra bling. I also wanted to add some ribbon, but the only Crisp Cantaloupe ribbon is the Thick Baker's Twine.  I tied a bow and used a glue dot to add it to the tree. It makes the tree look like a gift and when you think about all the ways our lives are enriched by trees, sustained by trees - they really are a gift.  Go on out and hug one today!
  • I wanted a more creative layout, but the size of the tree stamp meant that it filled up almost the entire card front, so I added interest with layering and embellishments.

Good news for those of you who like to sell your Stampin' Up! creations!  Stampin' Up! has come out with a new Angel Policy stamp set in photopolymer entitled Better Than E-Mail.  It contains lots of stamps that help you fulfill the requirement to include the Stampin' Up! copyright on your projects when you go to sell them.  Here's a look at it:

Just a reminder that I am offering Product Shares for the Occasions Catalogue here.  I would like to wrap up this round by Tuesday, Jan. 20, so please sign up before then.

  1. Such a pretty card, Heather! I l chuckled to myself a bit when I saw it because I had a similar idea for it's use, only I used white instead of Crisp Cantaloupe! So pretty with the bow in the middle...I too love the story of the Giving Tree :) Thanks so much for playing along with The Paper Players this week!
