I am excited about some of the stamp sets in the new Annual Catalogue. With advances in photopolymer stamps, we now have some amazing two and three step stamping sets that create amazingly three dimensional looking images. One of these is the Sweet Cupcake set. That baby looks good enough to eat and it's kind of disappointing when you remind yourself that it's just paper! Besides the amazing looking cupcake, you can stamp a candle with the same amount of realism, plus there are tons of great sentiments that you can combine in different ways to make many different greetings! So it has great versatility! And for convenience, there is a matching framelit set called Cupcake Cutouts Framelits that you can bundle with the stamp set for a savings of 10%!
I thought it would be perfect with the layout from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #241:
I noticed something interesting about this stamp set: Normally, Stampin' Up! has you start the 3 step stamping process by using the stamp with the least detail, usually the most solid of the three images, on which you would use the lightest ink. I've always maintained, though, that it is easier to start with the most detailed stamp on which you would use the darkest ink, because it is easier to see on the paper and line up with the others. Stampin' Up! appears to have heard me on this, because in this set you start with the most detailed, darkest image and end with the lightest, most solid image for the cupcake, candle and cupcake holder.
- I'm a little short of Designer Series Paper at the moment, but this pattern from the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper package, was jolly enough but not too dark, competing with the cupcake. The ribbon you see is Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon. You've got to get your hands on some of that, or in the other great In Colours.
- The cupcake holder, from the Sweet Cupcake stamp set, is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black, Bermuda Bay and Pool Party inks for step 1, 2, and 3 consecutively. The icing is Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride for the three steps as well. The candle is only two steps and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and Pool Party.
- The cupcake pieces were die cut with the coordinating Cupcake Cutout Framelits and added using Glue Dots for the cupcake holder and Dimensionals for the icing and candle. I don't know if you can tell from the photos, but I used the Clear Wink of Stella on the icing in the lighter areas.
- The great thing about the sentiments in this stamp set and others in the new catalogue, is that they are paired so that you can have a sentiment to stamp inside the card that coordinates with the outer greeting. Here's the one I added to the inside:
