A Simple Thank You with Succulent Garden

It's funny how often I initially don't warm up to a product at first and end up loving it in the end. Such is the case with the whole Succulent Garden Suite in the Occasions Catalogue. I've never really liked succulent plants that much, where my husband loves them, so when I saw them in the catty, I was like, "Meh." But then I played around with them for a while to create some decor for my Catalogue launch and was amazed at the realistic look you could get with the framelits when you make the little plants and put them in flower pots.

But today I want to show you how beautiful the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper is. I made some simple thank you cards for my customers with some of the patterns from the series and I think they really highlight how gorgeous that paper is. Take a close look and try not to drool on your tablet!

Mint Macaron is paired with the sentiment from One Big Meaning in Old Olive here.

Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Old Olive here with the sentiment in Old Olive again.

I just love this sweet Sweet Sugarplum gingham print with the little white knot using the Whisper White 1/8" Grosgrain from the Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack.

This weekend, I was in Okanagan Falls for a small crafting retreat with my stamping group down there!

We had a lot of fun! Good food, good company, great talk and lots of crafting fun took place.

I usually host these, but this year was a little different, because one of my group has become a brand new demonstrator and wanted to help me host the retreat! Actually she did most of the organizing of the retreat herself! I designed three of the projects and she designed three of them.
I wanted to show you the three she designed because I did those projects along with the rest of the group and thoroughly enjoyed making these great cards! Make sure you leave a little love for Dianne Gough in the comments today and tell her what a great job she did with her designs!

Some of the other projects I made have to be kept under wraps for a bit, but I will share when I'm able. I will let you know that I did this project with the others as one of my three and I think I created a monster!

Let's just say that there were a lot (A LOT) of shadow box frames created this weekend with all sorts of things in the middle!! Anyway, it's a wrap until next year, and a shout out to Dianne, my new downline, who took on that big an event so soon in her Stampin' Up! career! Kudos!

Lift Me Up for The Paper Players

On Wednesday, I told you that I had another entry for The Paper Players Colour Challenge this week, and that I would post it on Friday. Well, it's Friday and here I am, with a more fun-loving design than my delicate copper embossed flower from Wednesday. But I love this colour palette so much that I couldn't resist making two cards for it.

Don't you agree? So elegant and warm. This next design uses more actual Copper Foil Sheets than the last design. It also uses the Lift Me Up stamp set to take you into the heavens for some hot air balloon fun!

I'm helping to lead a weekend crafting retreat this Saturday and Sunday to a most unusual venue. It's a famous ice cream store in our valley, but it's closed for business in February. The owners are letting us have our retreat inside this funky little store. We are creating and eating some meals there, but going home to our own beds at night (except for me - I'm too far away), which is nice. I'm hoping I get lots of creating done this weekend to share with you on Monday!  Have a great weekend yourself!

Birthday Blooms for The Paper Players

The Paper Players have the most beautiful colour challenge this week. I couldn't resist playing along. In fact, I did two cards with the colour palette, I liked it so much. Today, I'm sharing the pretty card with you. On Friday, I'll share the fun card. The card today features the Birthday Blooms stamp set from the Annual Catalogue. It really is a gorgeous image and I haven't used it for so long. It really deserves much more time out of the box! First, take a look at the Inspiration Banner for The Paper Players Colour Challenge:

Is it just me, or does that combination rev up your mojo as well? So pretty. Here's how it turned out for my creation:

  • Dang! Photography just doesn't do that copper embossing justice! The beautiful Birthday Bloom itself is embossed using Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder as is the sentiment from the same stamp set and the splatters from Timeless Textures. The flower itself was sponged with some Blushing Bride Ink - just a hint, and the leaves with Smoky Slate. I fussy cut the bloom and removed some of the extra foliage and buds to simplify the image.
  • I created a little "texture nest" for the blossom with designs from Timeless Textures in Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride plus some splatter from Awesomely Artistic in Smoky Slate as well.
  • I kept the layering simple to focus on the Birthday Bloom and keep the card clean. The sentiment was die cut with the banner from Rose Garden Thinlits and another was cut in Smoky Slate and layered just underneath, looking like a shadow here.
