More Watercolour Technique Backgrounds for As You See It Challenge #170!

I promised you Wednesday that I would show you how I put those watercolour technique backgrounds I experimented with here to use in cards, so I am showing you one today as my Design Team sample for As You See It Challenge #170 entitled Bits and Pieces. Here is the Challenge Banner:

My card kind of evolved from the background. When I trimmed it down and looked at it, I saw the slowly swirling waters of a deep, secret pond, and since we have a pond in our backyard, that made me think of water lilies and dragonflies, and...well... you can see how things went from there:

  • The colour palette of Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Bermuda Bay with Silver came from the background colours that I used, and they happen to be good ones for dragonflies as well.

  • The Dragonfly Dreams stamp set provided the dragonfly two-step stamping images and the sun sparkles on the water. I used my Stamparatus for the dragonfly, giving me a nice, clear image that was perfectly matched up (love that tool!) and I embossed the sun sparkles in Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder on the background panel.
  • The Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits have an outline framelit for the dragonfly that lets you just die cut the medium dragonfly image.

  • The water lily was actually made using the Daisy punch - 3 layers of Thick Whisper White Cardstock, put together with Glue Dots and having the edges of the petals of the top two layers curled up for emphasis. A Clear Faceted Gem forms the center.
  • The second largest Stitched Shape Square Framelit forms the square from the sketch and the sentiment is embossed on it with silver. The sentiment is from the Cake Soiree stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.

Your background is beautiful, and I love the way the dragonfly sits on the stark white flower. The sequin trim is a wonderful touch. as is the silver mat and embossing. Feast for the eyes.
