Painted Seasons for Global Design Project

It's been a long time, but today I thought I would play a challenge I haven't played for a while, the Global Design Project. This week they have a sketch challenge happening, #GDP178:

And yesterday, my shipment arrived with my new second release Sale-A-Bration rewards, so I couldn't wait to use my Painted Seasons Stamp Set and the coordinating Four Seasons Framelits. While the Painted Seasons Stamp Set is a SAB reward bundled with the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper can be earned free with a $120 purchase, the Four Seasons Framelits will be available for you to purchase starting Mar. 1.

  • I don't want to divulge too much about the design of this card because it will be a free tutorial in my March newsletter for all those on my Newsletter email list. To sign up for my free monthly newsletter, just enter your email in the field below and click Go:

  • The think I like the most about this card besides the yummy new DistINKtive stamped images is the colour combination:

  • The colour palette is monotone but in such a pretty way. These colours just seem to belong together!
  • The sentiment is from the Life is Grand stamp set, also a DistINKtive stamp set although this sentiment doesn't display that quality. The other larger sentiments do, and they are breathtaking.

Twinkle, Twinkle All the Stars for Freshly Made Sketches

This is going to be a really quick post today! I am about to start prepping for a colonoscopy and that's probably TMI, but time is short. So I wanted to get my card sample up and that's about it. I am using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #376 this week.

And since tonight is the Oscars, my card is a nod to the Awards show using the Little Twinkle stamp set and the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper. It features a watercoloured background.

Here's a closer look:

Sorry for the rather quick post today! Did your favourites win an Oscar?

Lasting Lily and Lily Framelit Dies with Strong & Beautiful

After a long, long delay due to weather conditions, I finally got my order with my Sale-A-Bration Coordination products and I didn't want to waste any time putting them to use, since I only have another month to really feature them on my blog. Of course my favourite stamp set and therefore, the coordinating die set that I wanted to use first was Lasting Lily and the Lily Framelit Dies! And I haven't yet had a chance to use the Strong & Beautiful sentiment stamp set which is so perfect for this set.
A friend of mine got some really bad news recently and I wanted to send her some words of encouragement and hope and a reminder of her strength.

  • I love the palette and the fact that the Neutrals family now includes colours that aren't browns, grays and black. I used Gray Granite as the base and then Merry Merlot and Mossy Meadow for the the flowers, foliage and backgrounds.
  • I thought about using the new Lace Dynamic Embossing Folder for the Merry Merlot panel, but it was a bit busy for me. Instead, I chose the Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder for the rich, elegant background look it gives.
  • My Merry Merlot ink pad is at just the right level of  'juiciness' to get a perfect image with the DistINKtive Lasting Lily stamp set. The stems are more solid, but the leaves also give a varying opacity look with the Mossy Meadow stamp pad.
  • The Lily Framelit Dies were a bit difficult to in line up perfectly with the images and I found myself trimming away some extra border in some areas, especially where I wanted the flower part to show through.
  • I love the sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set. It is just perfect for this situation, but it also has a beautiful script. I die cut the sentiment with the Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies and matted it with the next largest size in Gray Granite.
  • The finishing touches are are little drops from the February Paper Pumpkin Kit!

I'll bet you're just waiting to get your hands on these coordinating products! It won't be long now. You'll be able to purchase them on March 1!  Here is what will be available, so make sure you earn the Sale-A-Bration products they coordinate with now.
