A Bird Ballad Suite Farewell Pocket Card

Some of my readers may remember that I am part of a group that sponsored a Syrian family to come to Canada. The financial commitment was for a year and that year is almost up. In that time a lot has been accomplished. Since that time the family has settled into life in Canada and we have made good friends. But sadly, we have all come to the conclusion that they would find employment and community a little easier in a larger center and they will be moving to Vancouver at the end of the week, having found a miracle rental that is just perfect for them! We are excited for them, but sad and a little worried to set them out on their own without being nearby to help them out when they need it.

We are having a farewell dinner for them tonight and I was asked to make a card that our whole sponsor group could sign to wish them all the best for their future, and I thought a pocket card would be best, offering a number of places where people could sign. And to give you a peek at some of the new products in the 2019 - 2020 Annual Catalogue, I used the *Bird Ballad Suite products to create the card. These include the *Free as a Bird stamp set, the *Stitched Nested Labels dies and the *Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

*These products will be available in the 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, starting June 4, 2019.

  • The front of the card features some of the *Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and the *Free as a Bird stamp set image die cut and matted with the *Stitched Nested Label dies.
  • The sentiment is actually from the *Good Morning Magnolia stamp set, but it's just the top two lines, inked with a Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Marker. Those two lines were more appropriate for the occasion. That it die cut and matted using the Rectangle Stitched dies.

*These products will be available in the 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, starting June 4, 2019.

  • When you open up the card you can see that I used an envelope that I made using the Envelope Punch Board and some more of the *Bird Ballad DSP. I made it for a card that is 4" x 5" because the regular 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size is too big to fit the edge of the card base here. Even then I had to adjust one of the long score line to make the envelope slightly more narrow by about 1/8" so the the card could fold shut. The envelope attaches to the card base using it's flap, and then there is a pocket available for one more tucked in card for people to sign.
  • The card is made using Thick Whisper White cardstock die cut with the second largest Rectangle Stitched die and then succeeding layers of *Bird Ballad DSP and Whisper White cardstock (regular) are added having been die cut with the next smallest dies in the same Rectangle Stitched dies set.
  • The ribbon pull tab is made from a new ribbon in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue called *5/8" Organdy Striped Ribbon which is glued onto the bottom layer and covered with the other two.
  • The sentiments are from two stamp sets, Itty Bitty Greetings and Enjoy Life, and the bird image is from *Free as a Bird again.

*These products will be available in the 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, starting June 4, 2019.
