What's New At SU Annual Catalogue Blog Hop

I'm so pleased that you are joining us for our hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from around the world who are Hoppin’ With Exciting Ideas to share with you. Today we will feature products from the 2019 - 2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, which just came out on June 4th. I know you will find a lot of wonderful ideas shared today!

The products that I'm sharing with you are the Free as a Bird Cling Stamp Set and the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Here is my sample:

I created a type of fancy fold card that I'm not sure I've seen before but I suppose it's a type of a gate fold. Here's a closer look:

  • The Crumb Cake base is a regular 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", but it is scored on the long side at 3 3/4" and when that is folded and placed in the Simply Scored tool with the fold at the edge, it is scored again at 4 1/4" and folded towards the middle on that score line. Then a piece of Crumb Cake that is 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" is glued on to the narrow flap that makes near the top and the rest of the flap is trimmed away. (See the photo.)
  • Using the large scallop edgelit from the Seasonal Layers Dies, the outside edge of the card front and outer edge of the small flap are given decorative edges.

  • Pieces of the Bird Ballad DSP are cut to fit all the flaps of the card as shown.

  • On a half piece of Whisper White cardstock, the birds on a branch image, the single bird image, 3 of the tree limbs, 3 of the larger blossoms and 3 smaller ones are stamped with Memento Tuxedo ink. These are coloured in using Stampin' Blends Combos: Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Soft Suede. Most are fussy cut, but one of the Layering Circle Dies is used to get a smooth line over the sentiment above the birds on the branch.
  • The sentiment is from the Free as a Bird stamp set, along with all the other sentiments I've used in this project, and all are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.

  • On the flap, the fussy cut branch of birds is added, using glue dots, to a Pearlized Doily and then that is added to the flap. A small blossom is added using a Mini Stampin' Dimensional and a bow made from the Braided Linen Trim, using a glue dot.
  • On the front panel, the sentiment is punched using the Story Label Punch, and another backing for it, is punched with the same punch from Pool Party. At the bottom the single bird is mounted with two of the leaf branches at its feet and over them, two large blossoms, and, in the middle of them, one small blossom on a mini dimensionsal.
  • On the inside of the flap is one of the leaf branches, a large blossom and small blossom. A bone folder is used to curve the petals of the blossoms to give them a more 3D effect.
  • Finally, inside the card is the final sentiment, punched out with the Timeless Label Punch. Another backing shape from the same punch is punched from Pool Party again. This one is cut in half vertically and glued onto either end of the sentiment.
