Pine Tree Punch for As You See It Challenges

The lovely and talented Jan Clothier came up with a sketch for our As You See It Challenge this week and it's great for giving you a head start and letting you run with it. Still on a quest to create samples for my Christmas buffet class, I got out my *Pine Tree Punch and my *Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper to see what I could create.

*New Products from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue, not available for sale until Sept. 4, 2019.

Here's the As You See It Challenge #207 banner:

And here's what I did with it:

  • Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and Gold - the epitome of Christmas colours! I love this combination. It's so rich!
  • I've used the *Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper on the Shaded Spruce base and then used the *Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8" Striped Ribbon as the dividing line in the sketch.
  • I punched three pine trees out of one of the patterns in the *Wrapped in Plaid DSP, intending to fold each of them in half and join one half of one to half of another and create a 3D tree in the process. What I didn't realize was that the *Pine Tree Punch was asymmetrical, so that opposite sides of the tree didn't match up exactly. Because the backside of this pattern was a white plaid design, it really showed up. What I ended up doing was using the Dark Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends Marker to colour in the white parts that showed and all the paper edges so that it wasn't noticeable. It just gave the tree a little more depth in the end.
  • The first and last halves of the trees were glued to the Whisper White scallop circle, die cut from the Layering Circles Dies, to make the 3D shape.
  • The sentiment, from the *Perfectly Plaid stamp set is embossed on the DSP with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder.

This would be a fun sketch to play with over the weekend! It doesn't have to be a Christmas card. It can be anything. Have some fun with it!

I will be away at my daughter's next week, so may not have a full week of posts! I'll be enjoying my grandkids! There will for sure be a post next Tuesday night, which you will likely see on Wednesday morning, but other than that, no promises! Have a great weekend!
