Snow Globe Scenes Dies as a Wedding Card!

This past week, I had a unique experience that I will remember for a long time. I was invited along with the other members of our refugee sponsor group to attend the wedding of one of the older girls in the Syrian family we brought to Canada a year and a half ago. It was a little sudden and a bit of a surprise so we didn't have much notice and we had to travel to Vancouver for the celebration so we went down on Thursday and returned home on Friday.

But it was quite a cultural education for us and so good to see our sponsored family again. We've been really missing them now that they are so far away. They are doing really well and the move was a good one for them.

I wanted to make a beautiful card for the bride, Marwa, and I had just seen a gorgeous one in white using the Snow Globe Scenes Dies on Facebook. It was created by Heike Fallwicki, and since I just ordered and received the Still Scenes Bundle which contains these dies, I decided to CASE her card for the wedding card. Here's how it turned out:

  • Heike's card used the church image inside the shaker globe and I tried at first to turn the church into a mosque, since Marwa and her new husband are Muslim. It looked amazing, but then I wondered if it was culturally responsible to feature the image of a mosque on a card and if that would even represent a wedding to a Muslim, so I opted instead to go with floral images.
  • To do this I used die cuts in Whisper White, using the Bouquet Bunch dies and the Frosted Bouquet dies for the flowers and foliage, as well as the Leaf Punch. I mounted them all on a circle of Pool Party Paper, die cut with the largest Stitched Shapes Circle die using glue dots and small pieces of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I cut a similar stitched circle with the same die from Whisper White cardstock and used the snow globe inner outline die to cut a hole in it for the Snow Globe Dome. You pull off the top film to expose the adhesive on the top and press this white cardstock circlet over top of the dome and pressing it down on the adhesive on top of the rim of the dome. It must be flipped then and filled with the Ice Stampin' Glitter. I feel I used too much of it and next time would cut it back by at least half.
  • The blue circle was flipped over so that the flowers would be inside the dome and the seal on the bottom adhesive on the dome removed so I could seal it onto the blue circle. The glitter is now trapped inside. The excess seal on the snow globe dome had to be trimmed away as it was larger than the largest circle die SU has.
  • Two designs of a retired laser cut paper (Delightfully Detailed) were layered on top of the Thick Whisper White card base, rather than just using the laser cut paper as the card front. The reason for this is because I wanted to add a gift card holder on the indside that I didn't want to show to the outside. The retired Gift Card Holder Dies created that.
  • I also used some retired Pool Party shimmer Ribbon to embellish the card front and to fasten the gift card holder.
  • The sentiments are from the Special Celebrations stamp set.

  1. White on white is such a timeless classic, isn't it? I love how your card is so delicate and feminine, and those touches of blue are just perfect. It's a beautiful card, I bet the bride loved it!
