Watercolour and Nature's Beauty

Why am I always in a rush? I just got back last night from a trip to visit my daughter on Vancouver Island and so I had less than one day to design and prep two of the three cards for my next Technique Night Classes on Tuesday and Wednesday nights!! I tell myself I need to get ahead of the game, but the game keeps moving faster or something, because I can never quite catch up. Anyway, I managed last night to design two cards and I'll show you the first one today. It's based on a beautiful card I found on Pinterest, created by Nicole Schlack from Germany. I changed up the colours and the sentiment, and I watercoloured instead of sponged the background, in compliance with my theme - Watercolour Variety.

  • The stamp set used is called Nature's Beauty and it's the one from the Holiday Catalogue that Stampin' Up! is using to raise funds for Mental Health Organizations around the world, a very worthy and timely cause. And it's a gorgeous stamp set that is well worth the purchase.
  • For this card, the background has been given a wash with a horizon line formed using either post it notes or post it note tape (my preference). I used the new In Colour Terracotta Tile and Gray Granite for my colour palette and an Aqua Painter to apply the ink to the Shimmery White cardstock.
  • The images were stamped mostlly in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The fox image was stamped separately on Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut, then applied to the card front using dimensionals.
  • The plant fronds were coloured in using Calypso Coral Stamping Blends Combo, since there isn't a Terracotta Tile Combo.
  • The sentiment is from the So Many Stars stamp set.

Stay tuned as I create an Online Class Series that you can purchase featuring the Nature's Beauty stamp set. More about this towards the end of the week.

  1. I think the way you've used watercolour to ground the images is perfect. Effective colour choice too.
