Scrappy Strip Technique for As You See It Challenges

Happy Friday, everyone! How are you all making out with the shelter at home initiative? Hands up if you are an introvert and have been training for this your whole life! Oooh, ooh! Me! Me! I'm thriving not having to go out! But I know this is hard on most of you, because my hubby is an extrovert and he is really struggling! I'm encouraging him to find online alternatives to his coffee chats with friends - not just phone calls, but actually seeing their faces and in groups, preferably. Zoom is an alternative, if he can help all his non-techie friends get it installed.

But it's a new challenge day over at As You See It Challenges and I have a special card for my Design Team sample today! It's also going to double as my free Newsletter Tutorial and it teaches a new technique pioneered by Bruno Bertucci. It's called the Scrappy Strip Technique and my version features the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and coordinating colours of cardstock, as well as the Timeless Tropical stamp set from the Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue.

It meets the requirements of the new Recipe Challenge over at As You See It Challenge:

It has to have flowers, a die cut, ribbon or twine, patterned paper and something shiny. See if you can find all these elements in this closeup:

  • The technique looks like it would be very technical, but it is really very easy and a lot of fun!
  • I used a palette suggested by the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper.
  • The flowers come from both the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set and the In The Tropics Dies.
  • The ribbon is the Braided Burlap Trim which is part of the Tropical Oasis Suite in the mini catalogue.
  • The shiny something is a series of Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the center of the plumeria flowers that I stamped and die cut.
  • The sentiment is a die cut from the In the Tropics Dies. It is cut from Pretty Peacock cardstock.
The tutorial will be a step-by-step photo tutorial that you will be able to get for free in my April Newsletter, which is also free. To subscribe to my newsletter, simply enter your email address and click on Go. It is easy to unsubscribe at any time if you would like to.
