Artistic Dies for As You See It Challenge #253

artistic dies for as you see it challenge #253 1

Is it just me, or does the time between our As You See It Speed Challenges get shorter and shorter? It just seems to speed by! 🤦🤦 This week is Challenge #253 - Fast Foliage. Here is the challenge banner:

Speed Challenges are where you have 10 minutes only to make your card. You can design it in your head and gather materials, but the moment you begin to cut or stamp or die cut you have to start the timer and when 10 minutes are up, you are done, whether or not you feel finished. These used to really intimidate me. Now I know what kind of card to design so that I can finish in time, but in spite of that, stupid things keep happening to slow me down.

For instance, when I went to cut the card base for this card, there was something at the end of my paper trimmer that kept me from making a clean cut at the end, and it took me three tries to remove it! Ask me if that has ever happened before!

When I went to die cut the foliage, I wanted to remove the die cut to my die brush box to roll out all the bits, but the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine had done such a good job that all the little bits came out on my cutting plate before I could get it over there. So I had to clean all those pesky pieces off my eroded cutting plate (I have a new one coming shortly) before I could do my second die cut! I could only happen to me all at the same time! Even with those silly set backs, though, I was finished in 7 minutes and 26 seconds giving me 2 1/2 minutes to spare.

  • I started with a Granny Apple Green card base and added a piece of Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper. This series should be available again next week. Let me know if you want some.
  • I die cut the foliage die from the Artistic Dies in Just Jade and Gold Foil Sheets and added them to the card front with glue dots.
  • I used a printed sentiment from the last Paper Pumpkin kit - Expressions in Colour - which coordinates with the Expressions in Ink Suite, and adhered it using a vellum tape runner.
  • I added some self-adhesive iridescent sequins from the same Paper Pumpkin kit and I was done! Stop the clock!!

You have until July 10 to subscribe to the next Paper Pumpkin kit which has an outdoorsy camping theme! Perfect for the kind of holiday many Canadians have embraced during COVID, and will hopefully enjoy with their families for many years ahead!

Going Artistic with Expressions in Ink

going artistic with expressions in ink 1

I just finished getting my party packs delivered for my Catalogue Launch next Saturday, so I'm finally getting the chance to play with some of the new products that I ordered. One suite that I've been itching to delve into is the Expressions in Ink Suite. It's Alcohol Ink designs mixed with veins of gold on the Designer Series paper are just gorgeous and with gold accessories, I have more ideas than time!

This is the first one, based on a diagonal line separating two of the designs from the DSP pack, backed with gold and with an intricate die cut (from the Artistic Dies that are part of the coordinating Artistically Inked bundle) mounted on the card front. I'm loving this suite!!

  • The more I play with this suite, the more possibilities I see. For example, the flower stamps that are included with the Artistically Inked stamp I can see loosely coordinating with the flowers in the die cut you see above. I want to experiment with that.
  • There is a leafy branch die cut that I want to try with some of the paper and also the Expressions in Ink Ephemera pack with laser cut gold/white sprigs and banner outline shapes that are amazing along with some of the sequins I used on this card.
  • The sentiment on this card is from the Artistically Inked stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark right on the DSP and added Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder from the Metallics collection and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

This morning on my Facebook Monday Morning Live video, I'm going to share a Stamparatus Trick for doing multiple die cut images quickly using a template. Be sure to join me at 11 am PDT and I'll post it here afterwards.

If you're not quite ready to get the best deal in the catalogue (that is, the starter kit this month - $135 for $206 worth of your choice of any products with free shipping) maybe you want to cash in on the next best deal: Hosting an online party and reaping enhanced rewards from Stampin' Up! from now until June 14th. If your party sales reach $300 before tax and shipping(pretty easy to do) Stampin' Up! will add an extra $30 to the Stampin' Rewards that you would already earn. At exactly $300, that would be 10% of $300 is $30 Plus another $30 is $60! Under normal circumstances, the higher your party total, you reach benchmarks where the percentage of the rewards increases, so when you add on the extra $30 it only gets better. When you host an online party, you only need to do the inviting on Facebook and take part in the fun. So easy. Let me know if you want to book one before June 14th.
