Sailing Home Vacation for As You See It Challenge

Well, it's July!! Yesterday was Canada Day and a dismal affair it was, too, with rain all day, no parties or fireworks or kids visiting. Just Ken and I having pancakes for breakfast, hotdogs and potato salad for supper and watching Disney+ on TV! How did you celebrate? But it's Friday and another As You See It Challenge and Design Team Member Jane has come up with a Theme Challenge that has us all dreaming of better times and places:

Can you vacation where you live? Depending on the state of COVID 19, you may or may not be able to. Where I live you can now travel around our province with some special precautions taken. But as soon as they opened up the campgrounds, they booked up within minutes, so we were out of luck. We're hoping to be able to see our grandkids at different times this summer, all things staying well, and it's a good thing, as I am having serious grandkid withdrawal symptoms right now! I hope you are able to get away, but if not, what vacation will you take when things get back to normal? No harm in a little dreaming! I thought about the sea, sailing and adventure - the sailboat image from the Sailing Home stamp set substituting for our new one person kayaks that we just got. (We couldn't seem to get along paddling our 2 person kayak "Dunkin", so we sold it to save our marriage!) Here's my card:

  • I'm so enamoured with the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper, that it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the theme of vacations: maps, compasses, routes! So this turned out to be a very masculine themed card, which is ironic, because men seldom consult maps when they drive, especially on vacations!
  • Ken and I once had a little sailboat, but she turned out to be a 10 foot long money pit, so we eventually sold her, but sailing was exhilarating and the epitome of vacation freedom, I thought! I stamped the sailboat image from Sailing Home right on some of the World of Good DSP and thought I'd add some Shimmery White Embossing Paste to make white caps and clouds and to add a little texture! I like the way it soaked up some of the colour from the Misty Moonlight ink I stamped the sailboat in.
  • I love the look of sailor's knots and used the Braided Linen Trim to create one for the card. It adds to the masculine appeal I think.
  • See that compass, from Sailing Home? It is not embossed in Gold Embossing Powder. Seeing as how the World of Good Specialty DSP has Brass Foil highlights, I felt as though I needed some Brass Embossing Powder to complement it, but of course, we don't have any. However, I've created different effects before with embossing powders by mixing them, and I thought I would try to create brass. I mixed Gold and Copper Stampin' Emboss Powders (Copper is retired now) in a 1:1 ratio and I think I got a pretty good approximation to Brass. The image is the compass from Sailing Home.
  • The sentiment is from the Beautiful World Stamp set that goes with the World of Good suite. I stamped it in Misty Moonlight and fussy cut it, then sponged some Misty Moonlight around the cut edges to give it more definition.

June Online Technique Class Details

June Online Technique Class

I was so excited to use some of the new products from the 2020/2021 Annual Catalogue when designing the June Online Technique Class. The stamp set it's built around is called Beautiful World from page 26 and it's a great masculine/travel stamp set, also wonderful for scrapbookers, especially those who like to travel, when you combine it with the coordinating  World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I will send you class packages containing cardstock and DSP, cut, punched and die cut, along with embellishments, but I'm not allowed to send you prestamped images, due to copyright issues. You will need a basic list of supplies or alternatives to complete your projects that you can find below.
The Plan
Option 1
My plan is to put together class packages like I usually do for four cards, 2 each of 2 designs, plus 1 suitcase, with all the punching and die cutting done, as well as the embellishments, etc., and give you access to the YouTube demos for $10.

Option 2
Your second option is to purchase the Beautiful World stamp set from me and you will get the class package for only $5 plus a free gift from me, some Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. If you live in my area, you can order by calling me and I can place the order for you and deliver it to you free along with your card pack. The total price will be $43.19.
If you live anywhere else in Canada, your best bet is to order the stamp set through my Online Store and use the Host Code NP7JJCVCWhen I see your order, I will mail you the card pack (so be sure to include your address on your order) and if you use the Host Code, I will include the free gift of the Gold Embossing Powder. I will send you a Pay Pal invoice for the $5 cost of the card package and the mailing cost.

Product List

                                 Option 3
Your third option is the same as Option 2, but instead of just the Beautiful World stamp set, you would purchase the Beautiful World Bundle, which include the stamp set and the coordinating World Map Dies. You would then get the card package for just the small shipping cost. (Unless you live close enough for me to deliver the card pack and then it's totally free!) Plus you would get this month's free gift.
If you live in my area, you can order by calling me and I can place the order for you and deliver it to you free along with your card pack. The total price will be $80.70.
I will send you a Pay Pal invoice for the mailing cost.

Beautiful World for Fab Friday and Pre-Order Unboxing Video

It was an exciting weekend for me: after five (count 'em - 5) delivery reschedulings, my new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue Pre-Order was finally delivered at 6:45 pm Friday evening. I had given up hope of getting it for the weekend and set my sights on Tuesday, because it was a long weekend in Canada, so I was so excited to hear that big thump on my door! Those poor UPS guys are working SOOO hard right now. It's apparently busier than the holiday season. Of course, after doing a Facebook Live of unboxing my order (see below), I had to spend my weekend playing with all my amazing new goodies. The first suite that I wanted to get my hands on was the World of Good Suite, including the Beautiful World stamp set!

I decided that I would play along with Fab Friday's sketch challenge #189:

I realized after that I didn't have the bow on the sentiment but I hope otherwise it fits the bill:

  • I used a lot of new products from our beautiful new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue for this card: the wood grain paper in the background is from a fabulous double pack of 12x12 DSP called **In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Gorgeous texture and neutral colouring perfect for masculine designs and others in this set.
  • The next layer is DSP from the **World of Good Suite. It's from the **World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper. The embellishments on three of the corners and on the Suede Ribbon are from the **Antiqued Corners & Slides, also part of this Suite.
  • The globe, compass, quill & ink well are stamped images from the **Beautiful World stamp set. The base of the globe is stamped in Versamark ink and covered in a mix of gold and silver stampin' emboss powder to make one more like pewter. I stamped the globe in Gray Granite, but after a second or two covered it in the same mix of embossing powders and heat set it. They were die cut with the **World Map Dies except for the compass which was punched with the retiring 1" circle punch. (Get it while you still can!)
  • The ink well is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, while the quill is in Early Espresso, along with the compass.
  • I love the font of the sentiment, which looks like a quill pen wrote it. It was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink as well. The shape of the sentiment banner was created with the new **Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, one of my new favourite tools!
**New products from the 2020/21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Not available to order until June 3, 2020 unless you become a Demonstrator!

Now, I thought I would share my Facebook Live video of my Preorder unboxing with you so you can see what other products you can look forward to in the next couple of weeks before you can order from the new catalogue yourself.

Let me know in the comments below if you would like me to send you a new catalogue. As long as you live in Canada and don't have a regular a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I'd be happy to mail one to you.
