Casing Krista Frattin for Global Design Project

I love the feature they have over at Global Design Project Challenge, where you have to case one of the designers from the Design Team. They are all amazing artists, but I follow Krista Frattin on a regular basis and love her style. And not only that, but she is a fellow Canadian. So I was excited when she was the designer designated for us to follow in their latest challenge:

She has a very pretty, modern look to her designs and a light touch - nothing heavy and dramatic and I've learned a lot from following her blog.

So here's my attempt at a CASE:

  • Although all the designer series paper and ribbon you see (except for the baker's twine) will be retiring, the stamp sets I've used here, First Sight and Teeny Tiny Wishes, will be available for another year in the new Annual Catalogue. The Designer Series Paper is from the Birthday Bouquet series in the Occasions Catalogue. It will be available while supplies last until May 31.
  • The two punches I used here, the Banner Triple Punch and the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, will still be around in the new catalogue, but a lot of punches are retiring, even some old favourites like the Bird Builder Punch and the scallop circles and ovals will be gone after May 31.
  • I love this colour palette, taken from the DSP  - Blushing Bride, Pool Party and Mint Macaron.
  • The Pool Party tag is stamped with an image from First Sight in Versamark for a tone-on-tone watermark look. I used Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride ink for the white tag, with the heart image from First Sight and the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
The Winner from Guess 10 Retiring Stamp Sets Contest is Announced:
All the entries I received for the Guess 10 Retiring Stamp Sets contest did very well with their guesses. The highest score was 9 / 10 correct and three people had that score:  Lenore Hendricks, Kim Findlater and Amy-Jo Bomford. Because there was only 1 gift certificate up for grabs, those three names went into a jar and a name was drawn!  The winner was .......

Amy-Jo Bomford!

Congratulations, Amy-Jo! I will be contacting you with your prize!

It is time!! Here's a couple of links to the Retiring Lists at my Online Store:

Something for Baby for MOJO Monday

As a teacher, especially an elementary school teacher, it's kind of weird seeing your students grow up and get married and have babies! This weekend I will be attending a baby shower for one of my former students who just had a little girl. My student is not a traditional person. She likes the unique and interesting. She also just returned from the UK where she and her husband were teaching for a year or two. So I decided to use the pram image from the Something For Baby stamp set, since it seems traditionally British, even though I'm sure prams in England look more like our strollers now.

Pram is short for perambulator, from the Latin words meaning "all over" and to "walk". I can still remember my mom using one for my younger brother and sisters here in Canada, but we called it a baby buggy. Comparatively un-maneuverable compared to modern devices for babies, but charming nevertheless.

Back to the baby shower card, I used the layout of the Mojo Monday Challenge this week.

  • I didn't want to use all pink in my card, but I did want it to look feminine for baby Georgia, so I used a colour combo of Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder, which is also part of the colour scheme of the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper that I used on the background panels.
  • The little bow on the paperclip is a modified embellishment from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit. I love the way those little paperclip bows look, but the ribbon was the wrong colour. Instead, I removed it from the paperclip, tied my own fork bow using Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon and slipped it on the paperclip before adding it to my project.
  • The pram and the flower images are from the Something for Baby stamp set. It has coordinating framelits that you can buy with the stamp set as a bundle and save 15%.
  • The little sentiment is from the And Many More stamp set - the perfect size.
