Seasonal Swirls Dies

seasonal swirl dies 1

We have so many fantastic die sets and specialty papers in our catalogues that I wanted to make a birthday card with a minimum of stamping and instead focus on the amazing resources in paper and dies that we have to offer. So I got out my new Seasonal Swirls Dies set along with my favourite Blackberry Beauty Specialty DSP and the Brushed Metallic Cardstock to come up with the following Fall Birthday Card:

  • On a Cajun Craze cardstock base I added a Basic White cardstock layer, stamped with the sentiment from the Elegantly Said stamp set in Cajun Craze in the lower left corner.
  • I added a 2" strip of one of the patterns of the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper pack across the middle.
  • I then cut three of the fall swirl die cuts with a pumpkin and two leaf patterns each, from the Copper and Gold Brushed Metallic Cardstock and some Cajun Craze cardstock.
  • I added each spiral using some glue dots then added the pumpkins, two with glue dots and 1 using a Stampin' Dimensional. I added various leaves, in mixed pairs and singly, around the wreath and in between the pumpkins.

Game On Masculine Valentine

game on masculine valentine 1

It's that time of year again, when I create a new creative design for a masculine valentine for my hubby, who some of my customers refer to as Mr. Stampin' Up!, because he delivers their orders to them for me! This year I used Game On for my design. I don't know if you noticed, but all the cards in the image with the playing cards are hearts! In fact it's a royal flush of hearts, one of the rarest hands in poker!! I can't think of a better metaphor for a good husband in marriage that has lasted for almost 43 years! Lucky me, indeed!

I'll be featuring this card in my Monday Morning Live on Facebook today so tune in at 11 am PST to Playing with Papercrafting:

game on masculine valentine 2

  • My Crumb Cake base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" on the long side.
  • The next layer is Soft Suede, cut at 5 1/4" x 4".
  • The Very Vanilla panel is 3 1/2" x 4 3/4". It's sponged around the edges with Soft Suede. On it the images are embossed in Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, even the sentiment on the banner.
  • The images are from Game On, including the bottom sentiment.
  • The sentiment on the top banner is from the Always in My Heart stamp set and is die cut with the Floral Heart dies.
  • All the small hearts are die cut with the small stitched heart in the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Dies. You'll notice that they don't have the hole for the tag that that die has built in. That's because I got my husband to take it off with some metal cutters because I wanted a small heart of that shape.
  • The hearts are Crumb Cake, sponged with Soft Suede, Real Red, and Gold Brushed Metallic cardstock, which won't be available again until the next July/Dec Mini Catalogue, but I have a ton of it left.
  • The final embellishment is a bow tied with a quadruple layer of linen thread and added with a glue dot.

That's the materials and measurement used. Tune into my Facebook live this morning to see how to put it together, or catch the replay on YouTube.

Let's Celebrate Giving the Boot to 2020!

let's celebrate giving the boot to 2020 1

I wanted to design a New Year's card and since we didn't really have a New Year's stamp set this year I had to get a bit creative! After all, if there ever was a New Year's Eve to celebrate, it has to be the turning over from 2020 to 2021, right?! I mean with the vaccines starting to roll out now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, if we can just hang in there a little longer!

I picked and chose from several different sets: Itty Bitty Christmas and Band Together stamp sets for the sentiments, Whiskey Business for the stamped image, Stitched Stars Dies for the stars, the retired Little Numbers dies for the year, and the Wonder of the Season Specialty Designer Series Paper for the background.

let's celebrate giving the boot to 2020 2

  • I'll be recreating this card in my Monday Morning Facebook Live today at 11 am, and then I will upload the replay to YouTube and post it here.
  • I'll include materials & measurements here:
Basic Black cardstock: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" on the 8 1/2" side.

                                 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" for the embossed sentiment

Black script pattern from the Wonder of the Season Specialty DSP: 5" x 3 3/4"

Basic White: 3/4" x 3 1/8" for the sentiment; 4 1/4" x 5" for the images.

Brushed Metallic Cardstock: Brass - 4" x 6"   Silver Foil Sheet - 4" x 4"

Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon - 3 3/4"

Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Versamark Ink, Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Combo, Pool Party Stampin' Blends Combo, So Saffron Light Stampin Blends, Paper Snips, Little Numbers Dies, Stitched Stars dies, 1 1/2" Circle Punch.

  • I had to mask part of the Celebrate sentiment on the stamp to isolate just the Celebrate word to use.
  • The old, retired Little Numbers dies leave the big bumps on the foil from the holes in the dies. This doesn't happen in newer die sets like the Playful Alphabet Dies, which would be a better choice. I think of them as marquis lights! Right?
stampin cut & emboss mini 1

Starting January 5th, you'll be able to order our "Baby Boss", the teeny version of the "Big Boss" or the Stampin' Cut & Emboss. These little machines are fully functional versions that can die cut and emboss, but with dies and embossing folders scaled for the size of the cutting platform of the "Baby Boss", whose real name is the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss. The catalogue number is 150673 and the retail price will be $82 CAD. It comes with the standard platform and cutting pads and a regular embossing plate and 3D embossing plate. It's so lightweight and portable, you're going to love it!!
