The First Ever Movie Monday!

I'm excited to announce that I'm planning to have a video tutorial as a regular Monday feature here on Playing with Papercrafting.  So today will be:  Ta Da!  The First Ever Movie Monday!

Have you been seeing those cute Scallop Tag Topper cards all over Pinterest? Have you wondered how the heck people got a whole piece of cardstock into a punch that was made for only 2" wide pieces.  Well, that's the subject of today's video.  And here's the card I made for the sample:

  • Following the Watercolour Wonder Design Series Paper that you see here, the colour scheme I used is Crisp Cantaloupe, Smoky Slate, Tangerine Tango and Whisper White.  I love the look!  I hardly ever use Tangerine Tango because it's too intense for me, but pairing it with the Crisp Cantaloupe really softens it.
  • The Scallop Tag Topper Punch made the closure tabs and the video tutorial tells you how.
  • This sentiment from Perfect Pennants is really one of my favourites and I stamped it in Tangerine Tango then die cut the pennant shapes using the Banners Framelits!  The flag is then popped up on dimensionals.
  • I used the background stamp, En Francais to create the background for this panel, using a technique that I will be highlighting on the next Movie Monday.
  • The sentiment is also from Perfect Pennants and is stamped to the left so that it will be covered by the front panel of the card.  The flowers are from the Stippled Blossoms stamp set, which I originally used for this panel.  It looked amazing until I added it to the card and closed the front flap.  Then it just looked too busy and I simplified it.
So without further ado, here's the first edition of Movie Monday!!

Festive Flurry Ornament Kit - Tutorial Tuesday

Welcome to the first ever Tutorial Tuesday!  Today we have a video tutorial for you on the new Festive Flurry Ornament kit!  Instead of making thank-you cards for my customers this past couple of weeks, I put together some Festive Flurry Ornaments to add to their orders!
They are so beautiful and versatile, too!  You can make them into a banner.  You can add them to a gift package.  You can make them into a tree ornament.  I even had one on a place tag at my Rising Star meals at head office!  And Stampin' Up!  makes it soo easy to put them together.  Everything is pre-die-cut and scored.  Just fold and glue together, but why don't I let my alter-ego, Crafty Clues Heather, tell you more:

You can purchase the Festive Flurry Ornament Kits at my On-Line-Store.  They are item #135813.  Or give me a call or an email and I will order them for you!  Just don't wait too long, because they are only available while supplies last.

New Video Tutorial

Hello Stampers!  It's good to be home in the sunny, HOT Okanagan! Our four-legged feline babies missed
us, as I can tell by their rather bizarre, unsettled behaviour!  There is a mixture of fur tufts and Stampin' Up supplies left here and there around the house.

(In case you're a new reader, Pickle, the one on the right, is my Stampin' Up cat.  Every night she sneaks down to my craft room, pounces on an unsuspecting sheet of Dimensionals, or an unwary scrap of cardstock and brings it upstairs, bounds down the hall, and, Craft Prey in mouth, leaps on our bed, where we find it in the morning.
Sometimes two items.  Sometimes more than two.  I think because I reacted rather badly to finding live mice prey in my house, she is targeting prey that she knows I will appreciate and thank her for!)

And if you'll allow me to brag for just a little bit, I left my new grandson, Wyatt, yesterday morning, weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. for an average gain of 3 oz. per day! (Most babies gain between .5 and 1 oz. a day!)  What a little guzzler!  Ask his poor Mama, who has to nurse him frequently because he gets ravenous so quickly!  But both his Mama and Papa are totally taken with this little guy and so excited to be parents!

Today, I have a new Crafty Clues video tutorial for you on how to create the little ribbon medallions that you see on these cards:

Card Recipe found here.

I hope you enjoyed it.  It's so easy and fun to do.  For the recipes for the two featured cards, click on the link under each photo to take you to the original posts.

It's Friday!!

I enjoyed this week immensely!  I had some breathing room to get organized.  I got my craft room up-dated with all the new products that arrived!  I made some cards with the new stamp sets I ordered. I filmed some videos, one of which is posted here. (It's been awhile!)  I planned some projects for up-coming events, and I still hope to get started on my swaps for Convention coming up in mid-July!  I really needed a week to do all that!

The last part of June is kind of up-in-the-air, as we wait for news that our third grandbaby is making a grand entrance into the world.  The due date is June 20, but we all know how punctual first babies are!  So I have to have a lot of contingency plans ready for some of my classes and events!

But this means that we will miss the first birthday of my second grandson, Kesten!  His birthday is June 25 and he is such a little dear that I'm sad to miss his big day.  We have sent his present and card north, but I wanted to share with you the card I made for him.

  • I used the stamp set You're Amazing to create this card including the beautiful script, which I used the Apothecary Accents Framelit to cut out, trimming off one end.
  • The balloon was inked up in Island Indigo and was stamped off once so that the image was light enough so you could see the number 1 on it.
  • I stamped the number using the new ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers in Real Red.
  • The cardstock colours I used are Sahara Sand, Island Indigo and Real Red.
  • The DSP is from the new series called Gingham Garden.
  • I used one of the new Candy Dots in Island Indigo on the sentiment.
Here's a quick peek at the inside:

  • I was pleased with how easy it was to line up the letters, also from ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers, to form Kesten's name.
  • The set only comes in Clear Mount, which I find is much easier to line up to make words than  wood mount would be.
  • I just lined up the first four letters on a clear mount block and stamped them.
  • I left the T where it was to help with adding  the E and N in the right position after the T, then I removed the T and stamped the last two letters and it looks pretty even.
  • I had to cross out the last two words of the verse from Bring on the Cake, because he will only have one candle! lol
I hope he has a great day!

I also have a quick Crafty Clues by Heather video tutorial to share with you today.  This one shows you the steps to making a fork bow.  Here it is:

A New Video on Distressing Ribbon

I received a couple of cards recently that I want to show you plus one I made myself and I want you to tell me what these three cards have in common!  Okay?  It's a game. So here goes:

The first one was given to me by my team leader and up line, Desiree Spenst!  It's a beautiful card.  Take a look:

I love the sponged textured panel and the shimmer all over it, and especially the sentiment from the Feel Goods stamp set. Lovely muted vintage colours!

The second card was made for a team swap by one of my friends in our oh-so-friendly team, Amy Jasper.

This is made with one of the hostess sets in the Spring Catalogue, Million Dollar Moments, available only if you host a Private Class with your friends!  (Call me right away if you would like to do that, because I only have one or two spots left during Sale-A-Bration, when your benefits are better!)

And this is the last card, one I've already shared with you, made for a Wow Vintage Swap at Leadership back in January:

So, quick:  What do they all have in common? (Don't scroll down until you have a guess. )

Right!  They all have a vintage or distressed ribbon!
Did you get it right?  Of course you did!  Do you know how to achieve that look?
Well, I just happen to have the video tutorial that will show you how!

So there you go!  Now you know everything!  See you soon!
