November's Newsletter Tutorial with Classic Christmas Designer Series Paper

Well, I'm officially in love with the Curvy Celebrations Suite, which is why my free newsletter photo tutorial for November is featuring both the Curvy Dies and the Classic Christmas Designer Series Paper, both part of that suite! And you will be able to purchase them this coming Tues., Nov. 3! How exciting is that!

This Suite is both an Early Release Promotion and an Exclusive Limited Availability Promotion all in one. The Quite Curvy stamp set and the Curvy dies are an Early Release from the upcoming Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue, opening for sales starting Jan. 5, 2021. The Curvy Christmas stamp set and the Classic Christmas 6x6 DSP will only be available for sale from Nov. 3 until Jan. 4 and then they are gone for good! So the only way you can get them is to buy them at this time!

Let's take a closer look at the subject of my newsletter tutorial:

  • This design also makes good use of the Brushed Metallic Gold Cardstock and the For Unto Us Cling stamp set.
  • The Curvy Dies cut the Classic Christmas DSP into curves to add to the card front.
  • The For Unto Us stamp set supplied the sentiment that was embossed with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder onto a stitched circle die cut with the Stitched Shapes dies.
My photo tutorials are free to subscribers of my free monthly newsletters, and are step-by-step instructions, illustrated with photos of each step, and complete with a list of products used and measurements.
To subscribe to my monthly newsletter, simply enter your email address in the field in the right bar menu or at the bottom of this page and hit Submit.

Curvy Dies for As You See It Challenges #237

curvy dies for aysi 237 1

Back when I created the sketch for As You See It Challenge #237, I didn't have any idea that Stampin' Up! would be bringing out the Curvy Celebration Suite with it's Curvy Dies and the Curvy Christmas stamp set, but the Curvy dies turned out to be the perfect ones to use for the diagonal stripe on the sketch.

Here's the Challenge Banner:

Because the  curvy die only cuts on one edge, I thought I would go crazy trying to figure out how to get the same curve on both sides of a slit or channel cut in a top layer, but it's impossible, trust me! I ended up creating an effect by layering a small curve of Crumb Cake, a wider curve of Real Red design paper (Classic Christmas 6 x 6 DSP) on top of a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Crumb Cake. See if you can see what I did to understand better:

  • I stamped a sentiment from the Quite Curvy stamp set in the bottom left to fulfill the requirements of the challenge, but I really prefer the design without that sentiment:

  • The plainer version suits the Scandinavian design a bit better. And the Merry Christmas message is better on it's own. What do you think?
  • I used one of the Gold Hoops Embellishments from the Annual Catalogue to hold the white foliage. Most of it is the backside of the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper, also found in the Annual Catalogue. One of the pairs of foliage come from the Curvy Dies, cut from Whisper White cardstock.
  • The stars are die cut using the Stitched Stars dies. The sentiment from Curvy Christmas stamp set is embossed on Crumb Cake in White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Everything is attached to the Gold Hoop using Glue Dots.

The November Paper Pumpkin Subscription period is only available until November 10 and in case supplies are running low, it's best not to leave it until the last minute! It looks like a sweet one, for sure!
