Loyal Leaves with Faux Metal Embossing for New At SU Blog Hop

new at su march blog hop 1

Welcome to our April NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are showcasing the 2020/21 Annual Catalogue's retiring products and some creative stamping techniques! I am featuring the retiring Loyal Leaves stamp set and showing you the Faux Metal Embossing technique.

  • The Faux Metal Embossing technique requires several layers of metal embossing on a sturdy piece of cardstock such as Shimmery White. You add Versamark Ink straight to the cardstock with your inkpad, add the Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder (or any other metallic embossing powder), tap off the excess and heat set it with the heat tool.
  • Repeat this process about 4 more times gradually concentrating the powder more towards the center. Have a couple of larger stamps with detailed images inked up with Versamark ink ready to go for the last time you do this process.

  • As soon as you finish heat setting the powder on the  fifth embossing, press the stamps that are inked up with Versamark into the metal embossing firmly and let them stay there until it has cooled. Then gently remove them. They should leave an impression in the metallic embossing. If not reheat the embossed metal gently and try again, or to add a second image, reheat, add some new powder and press in the second stamp.
  • The rest of the card has a Mossy Meadow card base of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", Forever Greenery DSP as a background and the sentiment from Loyal Leaves embossed in Gold on Mossy Meadow and die cut with one of the Tasteful Labels dies.
  • On Very Vanilla cardstock, I embossed one of the leaf images from the set in Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and fussy cut it. I added it to the Faux Metal Embossing Panel using Glue Dots.
  • I added braided linen trim in Mossy Meadow.

Bits and Pieces for a Wednesday

bits and pieces for a wednesday

I'm a bit overwhelmed right now! It's Tuesday night and I'm working on my newsletter. It seems that it comes around faster every month. I've got a spectacular tutorial for it all done, but I'm working on my next class and while it's going to be very exciting, it's not coming together fast enough for this blog post so I'm throwing together some bits and pieces to keep you informed and happy until I can share it with you!

1. Newsletter Tutorial:

bits and pieces for a wednesday 2

I'm really excited about offering you this free tutorial in my April Newsletter, when I finally get it out! I always have my adhesives and small tools cluttering my work surface, because I don't have a caddy that works for them. I have almost everything else organized but these and so I'm forever hunting for this or that! This caddy has made all the difference and it's not that hard to make. Also it's really sturdy for something put together out of cardstock and DSP! And you can choose your own colours if you want!

Not only is it perfect for adhesives and scissors and bone folders, I made two and I use one for my clear blocks that I like to keep on hand. The different compartments fit the different sizes of the blocks and keep them well organized, but in reach! And out of the way of sticky adhesive messes!

A Touch of Ink for New at SU Blog Hop

Welcome to our February NEW AT SU! Blog hop! We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world who are Hoppin’ with creative paper crafting ideas to share with you. Today we are showcasing the 2021 Sale-A-Bration Brochure to get you excited and brimming with ideas about how to use these great products that you can earn during the rest of this month! I am using the A Touch of Ink stamp set for my projects:

  • I used a watercolour technique where I inked up the stamp then sprayed it with water and stamped it onto watercolour paper.
  • I started with the filler or background step of the two step stamping process. I used quite a bit of water on it and after stamping, I used a Water Painter to spread the ink even further and blur the outline of the image a bit more.

  • I used the Fluid 100 Watercolour paper for the images. The backgrounds were dried before the outline images were stamped. I also sprayed water on the inked stamps for the outline images, but not as much and I didn't spread the ink with a water painter for these. I dried them before starting a new colour.
  • The flower image has a stem and leaves, but I just inked up the flower parts with Highland Heather for the background and Gorgeous Grape for the outline.
  • The leaves are Soft Sea Foam for the background and Granny Apple Green for the outline.
  • I stamped the hummingbird on a separate piece of watercolour paper, inking up different parts of the stamp with different colours straight from the ink pads for the background and spraying with water before stamping.
  • The outline was Memento Tuxedo Black and then I touched it up with Stampin' Blends. I fussy cut the image and mounted it on Dimensionals.

  • The butterfly is Crushed Curry for both background and outline.
  • The embellishments are Gold Glitter Enamel Dots.

  • The background designer series paper is from Forever Greenery DSP.

I hope you enjoyed my project with the Touch of Ink stamp set, a Level One Reward in the 2021 Sale-a-Bration Brochure. Now please hop on over to Jeannette Gauthier's blog, Carterie Plus, to see what's new with SU as she shows you Berry Blessings, a Level Two reward:

Forever Fern Newsletter Tutorial

I've been working on my June newsletter this week, among other things, and I got such a good response from my Facebook readership for the die cut version of this *Forever Fern card, that I decided to redesign it as a stamped card and make a photo tutorial of it for my June newsletter.

Each month I send out a free newsletter to my readers and I include a free tutorial in each one as a thank you for being faithful readers and subscribers. The tutorials are step-by-step how-tos illustrated by photos of every step. In addition, there is a list of all supplies needed along with measurements and quantities needed. Here's a closer look at the project:

  • It makes use of some fabulous new products that you will soon be able to purchase from the new 2020/21 Annual Catalogue from Stampin' Up! including the *Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper, the *Forever Fern distINKtive Cling Mount Stamp Set, the *Forever Flourishing Dies, the *Greenery Embossing Folders and the *Gold Hoops Embellishments.
  • The card base is the new In Colour, *Just Jade! Isn't it pretty? I think it's my favourite of all the new In Colours.
  • This distINKtive stamp set is amazing. It works so well. I had no issues with it no matter which stamp pad I used it with!
  • The sentiment comes with the stamp set, but you could use any number of small sentiments that you have on hand.
*New products from the 2020/21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Not available to order until June 3, 2020 unless you become a Demonstrator!

If you would like to get your hands on this tutorial, all you need to do is subscribe to my free monthly newsletter by adding your email address below and clicking go. You can easily unsubscribe at any time you wish.
