All Ye Faithful for Beginners

Sometimes, you can create something beautiful with a very simple design. Less can often be more. That's good news for beginning stampers. You don't have to know a lot of techniques to produce a card that is elegant and classy. You simply let the paper, stamps and embellishments do it for you. Here is a good example of that:

  • I just received  All Ye Faithful in my last order. The sketched designs are perfect for embossing or watercolouring, and I've been seeing a lot of beautiful cards made with this design. I like the way they highlight the true meaning of Christmas as well.
  • The combination of Basic Black, Whisper White and Gold is bound to create a classy card, whatever you do, but especially when paired with this amazing Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalogue. I absolutely love this particular background design. So three layers on the base - the card base, the Gold Foil Sheet and the DSP. Then I took a simple 1" strip of Whisper White and stamped the sentiment on that with Basic Black Archival Ink. To add some interest, I used some Winter Wonderland Designer Washi Tape along the bottom.
  • On Basic Black cardstock, I stamped the image in Versamark Ink, added the Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool. Using the Ovals Collection Framelits, I die cut the image with one oval and the Gold Foil backing with the next largest size. After adhering the two ovals together, I popped them up on Stampin' Dimensionals, and that's all there is to it! Give it a try yourself! Try some other designs with that beautiful paper and stamp set.

Timeless Elegance for Freshly Made Sketches

I don't know about you but I had kind of a crazy weekend, so I was scrambling Sunday night to get a card made for this morning! I wanted to enter the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the deadline is today. I'm exploring all the beautiful new Designer Series Paper that arrived on Friday and I'm so happy with them all! The set I decided to use today for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #190 is Timeless Elegance and it is such gorgeous paper, I almost didn't know which design to use! But one was perfect for this challenge:

I chose the design with the shaded roses on the paper and I die cut one of the smaller ones with the Ovals Collection Framelits and it made the perfect focal point for the card. With the colours of the DSP being Basic Black, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand, the design can't help but be a little vintage looking, but I've always loved that look anyway. Here's a closer look:

  • Along with the rose in the oval, I also used Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper for the side panel. I think I've created the ultimate Grandmother card here, with the lace and the sentiment and the colour palette, but that's okay....I am a grandmother!
  • I used the new Basic Black Stitched Satin Ribbon. You've seen this ribbon before, but with different colours - the 2014/16 In Colours. Now you can get this lovely ribbon in Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point and Whisper White.
  • The sentiment from the Trust God stamp set is stamped in Sahara Sand and has the perfect fonts for this elegant card!
  • The Sahara Sand Lace Trim just added an extra bit of softness to all the vertical lines on the card front. I briefly considered adding it around the oval, but decided that would be too much for the space.
This was really a very quick and easy card to make and it's nice to have design paper that you can do that with once in a while.

I had my 2015/16 Annual Catalogue Launch and Rubber Rummage Sale on Saturday with all my newly retired products available for sale. It was a great success, but, of course, I still have lots of product left to get to new and loving homes! Before I put it all away, I photographed everything and will shortly update my lists and give you the links to the Stamps and the Accessories.

One of the games we played was 2 Minutes to Win It, where contestants had to put away the Work of Art Stamp Set in 2 minutes. (No one could do it in 1 minute and very few in 2!) It was funny and a lot harder than it looks!

I also managed to get some Macarons in every new In Colour except Mint Macaron. It was the first time I had ever tasted one and it was really good! I was able to explain the difference with these teaching aids between Macarons and Macaroons, so everyone is cleared up on that point now!

Oh, Hello Meets Gorgeous Grunge

How well do you know Peanuts Cartoon characters by Charles M. Schulz?  Do you remember Frieda, with her naturally curly hair?
How about Pig Pen?

Well, my card today is kind of like a marriage of those two characters:  Oh, Hello meets Gorgeous Grunge!

  • It's been ages since I used Oh, Hello and it was a real favourite of mine when it first came out last spring.  I love the fonts used in the sentiments and the little flower that reminds me a a crocus.  I really like that chevron-covered oval as well.
  • Coastal Cabana and Wisteria Wonder = Match made in heaven!  Love that colour combination!
  • I like the combination of the Wisteria Wonder and the Coastal Cabana splotch marks from Gorgeous Grunge!
  • I used the Ovals Collection Framelits to die cut the stamped oval and its Wisteria Wonder matte.  The flowers were fussy cut by hand.  Both the chevron oval and one of the flowers were popped up on dimensionals.
Did you know that there is only 1 week left of Sale-A-Bration!  Don't miss out on all the free stuff!
Have a great Monday!  See you tomorrow with the Weekly Deals!
