Prized Peony Posthaste for As You See It Speed Challenge

prized peony posthaste for aysi 1

I was almost getting to the point where I enjoyed doing the Speed Stamping challenges for As You See It Challenges, that is until today! Speed Stamping Challenges are where you have 10 minutes to complete a card from first cut to the end. You're allowed to plan and gather materials before starting the clock, but as soon as you actually begin any work, the ten minutes begins! Usually I enjoy it, but for some reason a member of the Design Team (ahem) decided that blossoms would be a great theme for a speed challenge! I don't know what I -er- she was thinking! Blossoms are not that easy to pull off in 10 minutes!  In fact, what you see here is my second go at the challenge! I was kind of disgusted at my first sample. And I'm thinking I should have just stamped this image instead of trying to colour it in with my Stampin' Blends!  Oh well, after 9 min. and 54 sec. I called it quits and it is what it is.

Here's what it looks like a little closer (although why I'm doing this, I don't know!):

  • On my Petal Pink base, I added layers of the Petal Pink and Gray Granite Peony Garden Designer Series Paper.
  • On some Basic White I stamped the large peony image from the Prized Peony stamp set in Memento ink and coloured it in with whirlwind timing (as you can probably tell) with the Petal Pink and Gray Granite Stampin' Blends Marker Combos.
  • I added some splatters with the Gray Granite Stampin' Write Marker.
  • The sentiment is from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set, stamped in Gray Granite ink and die cut with the Tasteful Label dies.
  • Everything was slathered with adhesive and stuck to the card front - quick!! Hands up at 9 minutes and 56 seconds! No time for embellishments!

My April class has been posted here and on Facebook! It is a Mother's Day themed class although the projects could be for anyone if you simply change the sentiments.
Here are the details:

Easter Blossoms for As You See It Challenges

easter blossoms for aysi challenges 1

I feel spring in the air! The days are gradually getting warmer. The ice is gone off the fishpond now. The pruning of our fruit trees has been completed. I can see some little buds on the remaining branches, telling me that beautiful blossoms won't be far off now! Though spring is short in this area, and often fickle, it is welcome, and definitely brings hope with it. More this year than ever, as we get closer to having our vaccine in the next few weeks!

So when I had to choose an idea for an Easter Card for As You See It Challenges this week for our Theme Challenge week, I chose cherry blossoms from the Forever Blossoms stamp set. Here is the Challenge Banner for the theme chosen by fellow Design Team member Joanne:

I just didn't have any Easter specific stamp sets. I had to go to Itty Bitty greetings to get an Easter sentiment to use. I'm excited that it's time to use my Forever Blossoms again:

  • On my Petal Pink cardstock card base, I've layered two different designs from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper in Petal Pink and Gray Granite. I used some of the same Gray Granite design as a backing behind the sentiment as well.
  • I stamped the images from Forever Blossoms in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock and coloured them in using Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Combo and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combo.
  • The images were die cut using the Cherry Blossoms Dies. I mounted them on the card front using Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals for the single blossoms.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Memento ink again and die cut along with it's backing using dies from the Tasteful Labels dies.
  • The embellishments are Champagne Rhinestones added to the blossom centers.
Have a great weekend!
