So Many Snowflakes for As You See It Theme Challenge

so many snowflakes 1

It's Friday again and time for another As You See It Challenge! This week it's a theme challenge and the theme is In the Air. We can use as the subject of our project something we would see 'in the air'! Here's the Challenge banner:

I surveyed my stamp sets and all the obvious ideas were there: birds, balloons, butterflies. But I knew that my Design Team mates had already beaten me to those ideas! So I looked for something not so obvious and I found the Snowflake Wishes stamp set, but more to the point, it's coordinating die set, So Many Snowflakes Dies!

I envisioned some watercolouring before die cutting, some silver foil and some ink blending on the background, and here is what happened:

  • On a Coastal Cabana card base, I added a layer of the Mirror Finish Silver Foil from the Silver Foil Specialty Pack.
  • From the same type of silver foil, I die cut several of the designs of snowflakes.
  • On watercolour paper, I used a Water Painter to water colour Pool Party and Coastal Cabana in layers and dried the paper with the Heat Tool.
  • From this, I die cut several more snowflake designs.
  • On a layer of Basic White cardstock, I blended some Pool Party and Coastal Cabana ink diagonally using the Blending Brushes.
  • I added the snowflakes as you see above, using glue dots.
  • The sentiment, from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set, was embossed in silver on Basic White cardstock and die cut using the Seasonal Label dies.
  • Some Mint Macaron Genial Gems were added to finish off the design.
I've been preparing for my 2021 Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue Launch tomorrow and preparing many samples from the catalogue to display on my event page. Most of these are from CASing the catalogue, while some are my own designs. I thought I'd post them here for your own enjoyment:

Classic Christmas Cherish the Season for AYSI #240

classic christmas cherish the season 1

Every second Friday over at As You See It Challenges, we have a new challenge for you and today is the day. This time it's a Recipe Challenge and you are given some specific ingredients that you have to use to build your project. Here's our Challenge banner:

As a Design Team member, I have to do a sample card for the challenge and I felt for the first time this year, that I was almost done with making Christmas cards! Mind you, this doesn't have to be a Christmas card, that's not specified anywhere on the challenge, but with snowflakes, red or green and mitten symbols on the graphic, it does make you think of Christmas! AND it's our last challenge before Christmas, too, so there's that!

I used a potpourri of different sets including the Classic Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, the Cherish the Season stamp set, the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack, and the So Many Snowflakes Dies to get in all the elements. Take a look:

  • On a base of Thick Whisper White cardstock, I embossed the sentiment from the Cherish the Season stamp set with Gold Embossing Powdeer.
  • I added some of the Cherry Cobbler DSP from the Classic Christmas DSP which is only available until January 4th. Around the piece of DSP I added a piece of the Shaded Spruce ribbon and the Gold Cord from the Wonder of the Season Ribbon Combo Pack.
  • I used the Brass Brushed Metallic Cardstock from which to die cut a couple of snowflake die cuts using the So Many Snowflakes die set.
We've been decorating at our house and I'm getting back to it tonight. We've got our tree up:

I don't always put this much effort into it, because we usually go away for Christmas to be with one of our 3 daughters, but this year it looks like we'll be on our own, so we're having fun enhancing our environment! Just bought a whole whack of jigsaw puzzles, too! We're ready!
