Merriest Moments for As You See It Challenges

merriest moments 1

It's time for a new As You See It Challenge and this week it is a sketch challenge, with the sketch developed by Design Team member, Jane.

As soon as I looked at it, I thought it would be perfect for the Merriest Moments bundle with the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder. And I just love the Tidings of Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, so I decided to use that and the palette that goes with it.

merriest moments 2
  • You can see the 3 different designs of the Tidings of Christmas DSP I used in the background, 2 of them creating the perpendicular element. The palette for this paper includes Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand. I also added a bit of Gold Foil in.
  • I used the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder, which includes the embossing folder plus a die that matches the large frame and surrounding greenery. I had some difficulty getting a good detailed cut when using the die inside the embossing folder. It can be done but you might find that some of the smaller bits don't separate all that well. I embossed mine first and then die cut so that the die fit around the embossed part really well and made an accurate cut and I didn't even lose the embossing. It could be done the opposite way: die cut first and then emboss.
  • I die cut the center of the frame out with the stitched panel too. I used this to add all the greenery and the sentiment, then I replaced it in the middle using dimensionals for some vertical variety.
  • The greenery is stamped using images from the Merriest Moments stamp set which coordinates with the dies. I also added a sprig of the Christmas Pinecones Die that I cut from Gold Foil Sheets.
  • The sentiment is from the Merriest Moments stamp set and is stamped on the back of a left over sentiment label from a Kits Collection kit.
  • I finished off with a bow from the Simply Elegant Gold Trim.

Reflected in Nature with Tidings of Christmas

reflected in nature 1

Do you want a peek at one of my favourite stamps in the new Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue? I thought so. It's called *Reflected in Nature and it depicts a cabin in the woods by the lake showing the reflection in either the still water or the water-covered ice. The set that it comes in includes several meaningful sentiments and a flying bald eagle.

*These products are from the 2021 July - December Mini Catalogue and won't be available for sale until August 3, 2021

For today's card, I paired it with the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper and some of the Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon and some Blue Adhesive Backed Gems from the Annual Catalogue.

reflected in nature 2

  • On the Soft Succulent card base is a layer of the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper, with another design of the same series in a strip horizontally across the middle.
  • Over that, in the center of the strip is a piece of the Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon.
  • The *Reflected in Nature main image is stamped in Misty Moonlight on Basic White cardstock and then I use paper snips to fussy cut around the edge making a white border, reminiscent of the torn paper borders around the old photos.
  • The sentiment was stamped on a strip of Basic White cardstock and mounted on the card front with a mixture of adhesive and a mini dimensional on the right.
  • The Blue Adhesive backed Gems are added, some of each colour.

Quick Post! Almost Home!

quick post almost home 1

This is a very quick post! I'm on holidays visiting grandkids of course and almost home, but not quick enough to get a Wednesday post up. So I'm adding one from my daughter's house and using the last Christmas card from my Christmas in July Online Class on July 24th as the subject today.

This one features the Tidings & Trimmings bundle from page 89 in the Annual Catalogue. The colour palette is Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, and Gold.

quick post almost home 2

  • On a Cherry Cobbler card base, I've used some Tidings of Christmas 6 x 6 DSP in Sahara Sand.
  • Using the Christmas Trimmings Dies which are part of the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle, I die cut four stars of various kinds from Gold Foil Sheets backed with Adhesive Sheets so they can be applied like stickers.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set in Versamark ink on Cherry Cobbler cardstock and added Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder from the Metallics collection and heat set it.
  • I die cut it and a Gold Foil backing with dies from the Tasteful Labels Dies and mounted the whole thing using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • A bow made from the Gold Simply Elegant Trim is added to one star while the others have centers made with the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
