Frosty Speedy Shades of Blue for As You See It Challenges

We have come around again to the dreaded Speed Stamping Challenge at As You See It Challenges, but you know what? The more we do them, the less I dread them! In fact, I think I can say now that I have faced my fear and conquered it! I have looked fear in the face and stared it down! I laugh at Speed Stamping Challenges now! "A-ha-ha-ha-HA!!!" I am INVINCIBLE!!!

Okay, well maybe I'm getting a bit carried away, but I did actually complete my card in 6 minutes and 47 seconds, which is a new record for me! So I really feel like I nailed it! And the card isn't too hard on the eyes!

Here's the As You See It Challenge #212 Banner:

Here's a closer look at my masterpiece of simplicity and speed 😉:

  • After planning my card and getting out my supplies, the first thing I did was cut my Night of Navy cardstock in half to make my card base.
  • I cut my Feels Like Frost DSP to 4" x 5 1/4"  and then die cut my deer from the Detailed Deer Dies. I also die cut my sentiment from the Jolly Season Dies. Both of those were die cut from Night of Navy cardstock.
  • I then assembled the card, adhering the DSP to the cardbase and adding Liquid Multipurpose Glue to the deer and the sentiment and gluing them both at an angle to the card front.
  • I finished it off with some Glitter Enamel Dots that were retired from last year.
  • I was tempted to add some ribbon or sequins or something else, but I resisted the urge and finished in a glorious time of 6 minutes and 47 seconds!!

There are all sorts of reasons to love Paper Pumpkin this season and one is the coordination between the October and November kits to help you along with your Holiday preparations! And they are drop dead gorgeous projects. You got cards with October's kit and gift tags are coming in November! They'll look great on those special gift packages under the tree! If you haven't yet subscribed, do so by Nov. 10th to get in on it. If you have, but need to opt back in, again do so by Nov. 10th. Otherwise, sit back and wait for a wonderful kit delivered around Nov. 15th.

Holly Jolly Christmastime is Here!

Still designing cards for my Christmas Card Buffet class on Saturday and wanted to experiment with Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set! I decided I needed a Santa card, but I wanted to use the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint for Santa's beard and trim! I also wanted to go for the darker Cherry Cobbler palette, which made me grab the new Christmastime is Here Specialty Designer Series Paper, which is so rich looking. This particular pattern is perfectly suited for the job.

  • As you can perhaps see, I stamped Santa in Versamark and embossed him in Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, then coloured him in using Stampin' Blends. I used the Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Combos, as well as the Mango Melody Light, the Ivory and the Colour Lifter.
  • After it was coloured in and dry, I added "thin lines" of Snowfall Accents Puff Paint to his hat, eyebrows, mustache, beard, and coat and hat trims, then used the Heat Tool to set them until they puffed out. I put "thin lines" in quotations, because my bottle makes it really hard to dispense thin lines. But if I get too much out, I use a tissue to soak up the extra.
  • The sentiment is also from Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set and I used the Stitched Nested Labels Dies to make banners for the sentiment and it's Gold Foil backing by cutting off the back end of the shape. The gold foil piece is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals!

The 24 Hour Stamp Sale is on all day today, but it's over at 10:50 pm Pacific Time, so let me know right away what you are wanting to order so you don't miss out. I'll put in an order at 9 pm.

Here are the Stamp Sets you and choose from and their sale prices:

And, if some of those names don't ring a bell, here's what some of those look like. (Hopefully, you can enlarge this photo to your liking!)

Just wanted to update you on the story of my toothache! Monday, my dentist sent me to the endodontist to explore why a tooth that had already had a root canal, now had infection at the roots. Already really in pain now, I spent 1 1/4 hours in the endodontist's chair, only to find out that the tooth was cracked and had to be extracted, which he couldn't do because he was an... endodontist! Of course! And my own dentist's office was now closed, so I spend the night in pretty much agony. If childbirth was a 10, this pain was a 9! Pain killers were useless and I couldn't sleep a wink! I was at my dentist's office before it even opened and they told me he couldn't extract the tooth, I had to have an appointment at an Oral Surgeon. I think at that point I actually started to cry. They took pity on me, and my dentist froze my mouth which stopped the pain long enough for me to get into see the oral surgeon.

Now I have a gaping hole where that molar used to be, but hardly any pain for which I am extremely grateful and I am looking forward to a decent night's sleep! So ends the saga - touch wood!

Snowman Season and Toothaches

Ouuucchh! I have a toothache! Probably an abcess, but I can't see the dentist until you're reading this on Monday. (I'm writing this Sunday night!) Is there some kind of Murphy's Law that states that toothaches can only manifest over the weekend when dentists are off? I've had abcesses before, but never this amount of pain! Strangely, this tooth acted up last weekend, when it was a long weekend for Thanksgiving, but I took an extra-strong pain killer and it settled down and the pain didn't come back again, so I thought it wasn't anything, until this Saturday night, when it reappeared with a vengeance - weekend pain, see!

Anyway, if my post doesn't make much sense, that is why! And don't expect a major essay either! I'm lucky if I get the basics in before I retire to bed with another pain killer and an ice pack.

I'm designing simple Christmas cards for my Christmas Buffet class on Saturday and I wanted a fun design, so turned to Snowman Season stamp set for that.

  • The Real Red/Pool Party palette always makes for an ambiance of fun, and when you add some Silver Glimmer Paper in the mix along with the new Real Red Curly Ribbon, it's just full of playfulness!
  • The background DSP is the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper with its flocked designs of snowmen, mittens and scarves!
  • I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured using Pool Party, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blends Combos. To step this design up a notch, you could add some Snowfall Accents Puff Paint and heat set it so it puffs up.
  • I die cut the image panel using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. That set is rapidly becoming my go to die set!
Just a heads up! Something big is happening this week, so watch this space carefully for more news!
