Celebrate Sunflowers for As You See It Challenges

I'm continuing to play with my pre-order this week and having a great time with it. I thought I'd have to stop for my biweekly Design Team sample for As You See It Challenges, but this week is a colour challenge and when I saw the colours and looked at one of the stamp sets that I hadn't used yet, I saw that the two worked together beautifully!

The palette of Daffodil Delight, Call Me Clover and Soft Suede was perfect for a sunflower, and the Lovely Lipstick would work either as the sentiment or as extra flowers thrown in the mix with the sunflower. Here's how it worked out:

  • Although there are coordinating **Sunflower Dies that I could have used to create the sunflower, I opted to stamp the sunflower in Daffodil Delight. The image is from the **Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set. It's the large sunflower, not the smaller one.
  • I removed the ink from the center with a Q-tip and added some Soft Suede via a Stampin' Write Soft Suede Marker. After huffing on the stamp to moisten the ink again, I stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock. Then I added some Daffodil Delight *Light Stampin' Blends Marker to enhance the colour in the petals, but still left lots of white space.
  • I stamped the three leaves in *Call Me Clover, and used the ***Light Stampin' Blends Mint Macaron Marker to fill in a little more colour.
  • The grasses you see are die cut from *Call Me Clover and Soft Suede cardstock and the dies are from the **Sunflower Dies coordinated with this stamp set.
  • I stamped the sentiment, also from **Celebrate Sunflowers, on Whisper White and cut it into a narrow 3/4" strip. Then I used the new **Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to shape each end. I used a 1" wide strip of *Lovely Lipstick cardstock, punched with the same side of the punch to create a backing for it. These two were glued together then added to the card front using dimensionals, as shown.
  • The card base is Soft Suede cardstock, while the background layer is some of the **In Good Taste Designer Series Paper described in a previous post on Monday.

Forever Fern with Forever Gold for the Win

I am having such a blast playing with the new products from the 2020/21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue!! There are so many pretty new suites to choose from. One of the prettiest is the Forever Greenery Suite on pgs 108 - 110 in the catalogue. Using a variety of all the greens in our Stampin' Up! colours, Forever Greenery creates rich canvases of foliage of all shapes and sizes on the Designer Series Paper and uses distINKtive technology to allow us to stamp realistic foliage of many kinds with the Forever Fern stamp set, coordinated with the Forever Flourishing Dies. And when you add in the richness of the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper elements and the gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack you are destined to have a winner!

  • I started with a card base of **Just Jade, one of the new 2020-2022 In Colours, layered with a piece of the **Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper.
  • I added a layer of Soft Sea Foam backed with Mint Macaron just so that the design elements wouldn't get lost in the detail of the DSP behind it.
  • I chose one of the gold labels from the **Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty papers and some extra gold foliage from it as well. I turned the extra foliage over to the white side before it was added to the back of the gold piece.
  • On Whisper White cardstock, I stamped  some of the foliage using images from the **Forever Fern stamp set with Pretty Peacock, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron, then die cut them with the **Forever Flourishing Dies. These were also added to the back of the label, with a couple also added to the sentiment rectangle, die cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The sentiment is from the Forever Fern stamp set and is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.
  • The sprigs of eucalyptus were die cut from Gray Granite cardstock.
  • Everything is glued down flat using Glue Dots or Liquid Multipurpose Glue except the Gold Label which is added with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I made a 6 loop finger bow from the Gold Trim that's part of the **Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack. It was added to the card front using a Glue Dot.

I'm excited, because there are so many things that you can do with this set, so I'm really looking forward to playing with it some more! And if you're waiting to order it, there's only 2 more weeks left. (That is unless you buy the Starter Kit and get it in your kit, becoming a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I'd be happy to guide you with how to do this if you join my team when you sign up!)

Beautiful World for Fab Friday and Pre-Order Unboxing Video

It was an exciting weekend for me: after five (count 'em - 5) delivery reschedulings, my new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue Pre-Order was finally delivered at 6:45 pm Friday evening. I had given up hope of getting it for the weekend and set my sights on Tuesday, because it was a long weekend in Canada, so I was so excited to hear that big thump on my door! Those poor UPS guys are working SOOO hard right now. It's apparently busier than the holiday season. Of course, after doing a Facebook Live of unboxing my order (see below), I had to spend my weekend playing with all my amazing new goodies. The first suite that I wanted to get my hands on was the World of Good Suite, including the Beautiful World stamp set!

I decided that I would play along with Fab Friday's sketch challenge #189:

I realized after that I didn't have the bow on the sentiment but I hope otherwise it fits the bill:

  • I used a lot of new products from our beautiful new 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue for this card: the wood grain paper in the background is from a fabulous double pack of 12x12 DSP called **In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. Gorgeous texture and neutral colouring perfect for masculine designs and others in this set.
  • The next layer is DSP from the **World of Good Suite. It's from the **World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper. The embellishments on three of the corners and on the Suede Ribbon are from the **Antiqued Corners & Slides, also part of this Suite.
  • The globe, compass, quill & ink well are stamped images from the **Beautiful World stamp set. The base of the globe is stamped in Versamark ink and covered in a mix of gold and silver stampin' emboss powder to make one more like pewter. I stamped the globe in Gray Granite, but after a second or two covered it in the same mix of embossing powders and heat set it. They were die cut with the **World Map Dies except for the compass which was punched with the retiring 1" circle punch. (Get it while you still can!)
  • The ink well is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, while the quill is in Early Espresso, along with the compass.
  • I love the font of the sentiment, which looks like a quill pen wrote it. It was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink as well. The shape of the sentiment banner was created with the new **Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, one of my new favourite tools!
**New products from the 2020/21 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. Not available to order until June 3, 2020 unless you become a Demonstrator!

Now, I thought I would share my Facebook Live video of my Preorder unboxing with you so you can see what other products you can look forward to in the next couple of weeks before you can order from the new catalogue yourself.
