Symbols of Fortune Suite for As You See It Challenge #266

Welcome back to As You See It Challenges for 2022! This is our first challenge of the new year and I was excited to use some new products for this sketch challenge created by team member LeAnne. Playing some more with the Symbols of Fortune Suite, my favourite from the new 2022 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue. 

Here's the sketch for the challenge:

What a great sketch to work from! The circle element can be any shape! Here's a closer look at how mine turned out:

• On my Basic White Thick card base, I added a layer of Evening Evergreen topped by two diagonal cuts of the Symbols of Fortune Specialty Designer Series Paper of two different patterns. So many beauties to choose from!!
• I inked the flowering shrub image from the Crane of Fortune stamp set in Calypso Coral. Using a Qtip, I removed the ink from the leaf areas and used the Evening Evergreen Stampin' Write Marker to add colour to those areas. I "huffed" on the stamp to remoisten the ink and stamped the image on Basic White cardstock, then die cut it using the Layering Circles die that best fit the image. 
• I used a Blending Brush to add some Soft Succulent ink blended around the edges, then ran the edges in Versamark ink and dipped them in Gold Embossing Powder. Using a brush to clear off any excess except for the rim, I heat set it, the adhered the circle element right to the card front.
• The sentiment, also from the Crane of Fortune stamp set, was embossed in White on Soft Succulent card stock and glued to the card front as shown.
• I fussy cut a crane from one of the designs of the Symbols of Fortune Specialty Designer Series Paper and added it using dimensionals to the circle element, over the flowering shrub. I die cut some foliage using the Good Fortune dies and used Glue Dots to attach them to the front of the crane.
• The last step is to add some Polished Dots in both colours to the project.

Crane of Fortune Bundle - My Favourite

 Believe it or not, I'm finally getting around to using my new products from the 2022 Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue! And the bundle that first caught my eye when I saw the new catalogue was the Crane of Fortune bundle from the Symbols of Fortune Suite. I'm not sure if it was the soothing neutral tones or the gingko leaves or the pops of gold and Calypso Coral, but this suite was my first choice in the catalogue.

To be honest, the images in the stamp set are a little harder to use in a versatile way but that Designer Series Paper is so gorgeous that I'm going to work hard to show you quite a few designs that you'll love. This is my first one:

• On a Basic White Thick card base, I layered a beautiful piece of the Symbols of Fortune DSP in Smoky Slate, White and Gold. It's elegant, but subdued so works as a background.
• I wrapped a piece of the Gold 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon to the left side, securing underneath before adhering the DSP to the card base. This ribbon is a carry over product from the 2021 Jul/Dec Mini, but won't be available to order until the 2022 Jul/Dec Mini. The Soft Succulent 1/2" Satin Shimmer Ribbon would be a good alternative.
• Using Basic White cardstock and the Mother of Pearl Specialty paper that is part of this suite, I die cut two of the Gingko Leaf borders using the Good Fortune Dies from the bundle. I backed the cardstock and specialty paper with adhesive sheets before die cutting so I could just peel & stick. The Mother of Pearl die cut is on top.
• I stamped and die cut the crane and the shrub image in Memento ink and Calypso Coral respectively and added them to the card front along with the foliage die cut in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen cardstock as well. The crane is popped up on dimensionals.
• The sentiment and the dragonflies, both from the Crane of Fortune stamp set are embossed in Gold and added to the card.
