This Saturday, I held my One Day Craft Crop to Aid Refugees, and it was a success. The venue was great, even in the March gloom, with it's many windows for natural light, the food was delicious thanks to Janice and Regina, our amazing cooks, and the crowd was lots of fun! I'll share some photos with you later! I thought I would get gobs done, but I thought wrong. I was pretty busy the whole day, making announcements, drawing for door prizes and challenges, demonstrating the Make & Takes and writing up orders! I did squeeze in about three cards and the start of a Spring Sampler though, so I'll start by sharing one of the cards with you today.
It was for a colour challenge that we used at the Crop and it just happens to be the current Color Throwdown challenge #482:
I happen to love this combination of light Pink, Kraft and Gray. It's so soft and pretty. I like that the inspiration photo shows blankets and comforters, because it is a warm combination. I just earned the new Level 2 Sale-a-Bration reward: the Blossoming Basket Bundle, and I thought it would work very well on this challenge. so I took the time to assemble my stamp set and got to work designing! Here's how it turned out:
- I started on a Smoky Slate card base and made some hand-made DSP by stamping the sentiment, You are loved, multiple times on some Whisper White cardstock using the moving hinge trick with my Stamparatus!
- Then I took a piece of Crumb Cake and embossed it with the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder and added it to the background at a jaunty angle. the Blossoming Basket Bundle is available as a Level 2 Sale-A-Bration reward, available to anyone who spends $120 or more on one order during Sale-A-Bration, until Mar. 31, 2018.
- I stamped my basket and butterflies in Early Espresso, because I'd left my Memento Tuxedo Black at home. It worked very well, actually. Then I coloured in the image with my Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends. I was in a bit of a rush, since there was a time limit (imposed by me) on the challenge and I didn't have long to finish my card. I would have liked another half hour to complete the job in a less rushed fashion.
- After fussy cutting the images, (alas no framelits) I used dimensionals to mount them on the card front.
Here are some of the photos from my crop:
