I could hardly wait for this beautiful colour challenge from As You See It Challenge today. I've been planning different designs for two weeks now, and I'm sure I'm going to use this colour combo more than this once:
The nice thing about a colour challenge is that it's so easy to pair it up with other challenges, like Freshly Made Sketches sketch for this week:
I decided to go back to one of the carried over products from the Holiday Catalogue, one that I loved and said it was versatile enough to use all year round, the Painted Harvest Stamp Set. See what I mean:
- Aren't those 'sunflowers' gorgeous in Powder Pink and Smoky Slate. Those soft pastels make all the difference between spring and fall! I first stamped the flower on the left (two step stamping that doesn't have to be too precise), then made a mask from Post It Notes and stamped the flower on the right. This gives it the perspective of being behind the other flower.
- I tried stamping some of the leaves from the same stamp set masked behind the flowers as well, but something about them just didn't look right, so I eventually fussy cut the flowers and cut off the foliage I had stamped.
- Instead I used some vellum leaves punched with the Leaf Punch and some smaller foliage die cut with a die from the Petals & More Thinlits. You could also earn the Petals & More Thinlits free with a $120 order before the end of March. And be eligible for my Double Papercraft Cat Reward points promotion until Mar. 31 as well.
- The circle needed to be large, too large for my Layering Circle Framelits, so I got out my retired Circles Collection Framelits which are larger. I used one of the Petal Pair embossing folders on the bottom half of the Whisper White panel to help create the horizontal element of the sketch along with the Tranquil Tide 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon. (The Petal Pair embossing folders are also among the third release of Sale-A-Bration rewards which you can earn free for a $60 purchase and still be eligible for the Double PCC reward points!) You can see it a little better in the photo below:
- The sentiment is actually one from the March 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit, which was just perfect for this project! I die cut it with the label die from the Rose Garden Thinlits, along with a shadow backing in Tranquil Tide.
That's a wrap for this week! Have a great weekend and don't forget to get your orders in so you don't miss out on the deals of Sale-A-Bration! Last week!!
