Ornate Garden Suite

I hope you enjoyed your Easter holiday even if you couldn't get out to a service or get together with extended family for a meal. We watched our church's wonderful Easter service online this morning and had a very noisy and interactive visit with all our kids and grandkids via Messenger today. I miss them so much! But I can't help but think about all the people who are stuck quarantining alone! How the hours must stretch out endlessly for them. I wonder how we could make life more happy for those people?

I finally caved and purchased some of the Ornate Garden Suite last week and it arrived just before the weekend. I decided to get it out and play with it yesterday. Here's what I managed to create:

  • I struggled a bit getting the elegant bits and pieces of this suite to play nicely together. Each die and stamp is beautiful but they don't necessarily fit well together, at least with my taste in stamping. I figure that they will make great accessories for other stamp and die sets.
  • I used one of the beautiful edge dies to make an ornate edge that allows the card insert to show through. This particular edge die can also create a kind of die cut ribbon as it has an extra edge die that allows you to cut through the cardstock on both sides, to make a narrow strip with the rose design, which you could add to the top of a contrasting piece of cardstock or go for texture in tone on tone.
  • The ornate rectangle dies do not make frames so you need to add layers. I struggled to find some shape to add to the middle that I could do some stamping on. I used one of the Stitched Rectangle dies, but had to lengthen it by not cutting the bottom edge and extending the die and recutting to make it longer.
  • The images are from the Ornate Style stamp set. The single daisy was stamped, then masked and stamped over a couple of times. When the mask was removed, it looked as though the other two were behind it. I coloured them in with Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Combo and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combo. The center was Mango Melody Combo.
  • The sentiments are from the Ornate thanks stamp set and are stamped in Soft Suede.

If you registered for my April Online Technique Class, you should have your materials by the end of the day and just a reminder to watch my Facebook Live Class tomorrow night at 7 pm on my Playing with Papercrafting Facebook page. After that it will be available on a limited access YouTube video with the link emailed out to everyone who registered. That way, you can complete the projects when you choose. Make sure you contact me if there turn out to be any supplies you need to complete your projects.
