This has been an amazing year for anyone who wanted to see aurora borealis (or the Northern Lights). Because of the sun's electromagnetic forces being extra active this year, Aurora was seen often and very intensely. Except for me! I haven't really seen it much myself, due to light pollution where I live, and I really, really want to. So I have to make it a priority to get out of the city on a night when it's predicted to be strong and go where I can really see a show!
Anyway, when I saw the sketch for this week's As You See It Challenge, The new Lights of Aurora came to mind right away as a great way to show off those horizontal strips. I was a bit stumped as to what to make the circles in the sketch, but then I saw the Delicate Pines stamp set and it gave me all sorts of options.
Here's the Challenge Banner:

- On a regular cardbase of Pretty Peacock cardstock, I added a 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" piece of Lost Lagoon cardstock that was embossed using the Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder, to the upper left hand corner, as you see it.
- From the design you see of the Lights of Aurora DSP, cut three 1" x 4" consecutive strips from the design. Glue these in the right order on the Lost Lagoon cardstock, top to bottom, as shown.
- Using the Delicate Pines stamp set, stamp 3 of the small pine stars in Pretty Peacock on some Basic White cardstock. Die cut them with the coordinating die from the Delicate Pines dies.
- Add them to the left of each rectangular strip using a Stampin' Dimensional. Add a Frosted Iridescent Dot to the center, as shown.
- On Basic White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink. Trim out the sentiment with the Paper Trimmer. Add to the bottom right using dimensionals. Add two more Iridescent dots.

That's a lovely way to show off that gorgeous Northern Lights paper. The embellishments work well with it too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jan! It is such a pretty paper!
DeleteYour card showcases that aurora paper beautifully Heather - I love the co-ordinating gem centres to your snowflakes too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne! I love how the Frosted Iridescent Dots match the colours so well in the paper.
DeleteThis is really beautiful! I probably will never see Northern lights for real, so this is the next best thing!
ReplyDeleteAnd I really want to see fireflies, but not sure if I ever will! Do you ever see them?
