Autumn Leaves for As You See It Challenge #335

autumn leaves for aysi #335

I've been looking forward to this As You See It Recipe Challenge for a long time, partly because I created it, and partly because I used all of my favourite elements in it when I did! I love creating with warm colours, and metallics and embossed textures, so this was right up my alley. If you had to create a Recipe Challenge, what elements would you include?

Here's the Challenge Banner:

challenge #335

Because I haven't made many fall projects, and this challenge was perfect for an autumn card, I decided to use my Autumn Leaves bundle as the basis for this, and I used a palette of:

Here's how it turned out:

  • The Cherry Cobbler card base was embossed using the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder, then Cherry Cobbler ink was blended on the top and back fold edge of the card base to enhance the embossed images and create depth and interest.
  • A tag was die cut from a Copper Foil sheet using the tag die from Merriest Trees dies. I had some copper-like twine left over from a Paper Pumpkin kit that I used to tie a bow through the tag's hole at the top. I mounted the tag on the card front, as shown, using dimensionals.
  • I die cut a variety of leaves and foliage using dies from the Autumn Leaves, Thoughtful Wishes dies, and Magnolia Mood dies. I blended ink of the same colour as the cardstock around the edges to create shadows. I also used some copper foil for some.
  • Using Glue Dots, I created a pleasing arrangement of the leaves and foliage on the tag.
  • The sentiment is from the Poised Peony stamp set and fits with the element of the recipe. I embossed it in Copper embossing powder on a Cherry Cobbler label die cut using one of the smaller Deckled Circle dies. It was added to the front of the leaf arrangement using dimensionals.
  • Finally, I added adhesive backed Metallic Gems in copper, to embellish.

Shepherd's Care for New at SU

new at su banner

Welcome to our October NEW AT SU! Blog Hop! We love to share creative ideas from Stampin' Up! with you. Today we have projects featuring the sketches on page 16 from the 2024 Sept/Dec Mini Catalogue and products from the same publications! The sketch I chose to use was this one:

The stamp set I chose to use with this set was Shepherd's Care, since I thought it would work well with this layout. Check it out:

For the card:
  • I started with a cardstock base in Mossy Meadow, measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". It was covered with a piece of Season of Green & Gold Specialty DSP cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".
  • I cut a piece of Very Vanilla, 5" x 3 3/4", and added it to the card front, then added a strip of another pattern from Season of Green & Gold measuring 3 3/4" x 2".
  • The image of the shepherd from the Shepherd's Care stamp set was stamped in VersaMark ink on a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock after treating it with an Embossing Buddy. Gold embossing powder was added and heat set, then the image was die cut using the die from the Garden Meadows dies, to get the oval-like shape to conform to the sketch. It was added to the card with Dimensionals.
  • On a 1/2" wide strip of Very Vanilla cardstock, the sentiment was stamped in VersaMark and embossed with Gold embossing powder.
  • Notches were cut in each end of the sentiment strip and the strip was curled around a pencil opposite ways for each end and added to the card using Dimensionals.
  • Gold textured adhesive-backed dots were used as embellishments.

Sophisticated Sled Dies for As You See It Challenge #334

sophisticated sled dies for aysi #334 1

This will be a very quick post for As You See It Challenge #334! My life has been a total circus this week and I'm trying, without much success, to wrap my head around it! The President of our Strata Council resigned out of the blue, and since I am the Vice-President, I had to take over! This is one of the busiest times of the year, too! To say I feel out of my depth would be a gross understatement!! Then I have family coming for Thanksgiving this weekend, and a Volunteer Appreciation dinner for the condo volunteers tomorrow and....yeah!

Anyway, the As You See It Challenge this time is a Fill In the Blank Challenge. Here's the banner:

challenge #334

The name of the challenge is Using Spaghetti to Craft! You're going to have to go to the challenge site to find out what that is all about!

By the time I got to making my card, several of my favourite items were already taken by my teammates, so I chose to fill in the blank with:
"embossing and layering dies" which the Sophisticated Sled die set contains several of. Look at the sled and the skates closely in this photo.

You can see the embossing on the sled wood and the layering on the skates. I also coloured in the foliage on the swag with Stampin' Blends Markers, which are also favourites, but someone else used that idea!

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Readers this weekend and hopefully I'll feel more in control by next challenge!

happy thanksgiving
