I have a grandson who is eight years old and when he was a toddler there was a version of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star on You Tube that involved a star and a little owl meeting and dancing together. This mesmerized him and he wanted it played over and over again. Ever since then he's loved owls and he hasn't wavered in that devotion to this day. That was one reason I was attracted to this Winter Owls Bundle. The other reason is that all the images I've seen using this set just look so peaceful and beautiful to me.
So when this Colour Challenge came up on As You See It Challenges, using Misty Moonlight, Basic White and Copper Clay, plus a Neutral of your choice, Winter Owl was the first set I thought of. Here's the Challenge Banner:
It is the brain child of Team member Jan! Beautiful choice of colours!
Here's what I came up with:
- The background of Misty Moonlight is embossed using the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder, then using a Sponge Dauber, some White Craft Ink is lightly tapped on the raised areas to highlight them. This panel is adhered to the Basic White Thick cardstock base.
- I stamped the two perching owl images in Copper Clay ink and the moon image in Smoky Slate (which is my neutral of choice) and die cut them using the coordinating Winter Owls die set.
- I also die cut the two bare branches from Copper Clay cardstock.
- I stamped the sentiment on Basic White and die cut it using a banner from the Stylish Shapes dies then die cut a matte from Copper Clay using a die from that same set. I adhered the sentiment to the matte, but not before adding a piece of copper ribbon in between.
- I then assembled the card, adding the two branches and the sentiment using glue before adding the two owls using dimensionals. I added the moon.
- The final embellishment was adding some white Adhesive Backed Glitter Sequins.

So pretty, Heather! I might have to CASE this one for a class, lol - so perfect with our colors, too! Love that winter sky!
ReplyDeleteThe night sky is beautiful all by itself, without the addition of the sweet owls. Owls, especially this set, put me in mind of Harry Potter's Hedwig. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this card Heather - that night sky background is fantastic and you're so right about the peaceful nature of these owls!
ReplyDeleteI love the realistic look and feel of those owls Heather and the sparkle and texture of that pretty night sky is the perfect backdrop. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThese owls are something else! They look so real with the copper clay. You showed off how to use these colors for sure! I love that background! Well done!
