Dragonfly Garden for Newsletter Tutorial

dragonfly garden for newsletter tutorial 1

Like I mentioned on Monday, the palette for the Dandy Garden Suite just isn't my thing, and I think it prevented me from using the suite for awhile, but I finally decided that I only needed to change the colours and the rest of the suite is beautiful! You saw what I did on Monday with the Garden Wishes Bundle, and today I want to show you my efforts with the Dragonfly Garden Bundle.

In fact, this card is the subject for the free photo tutorial for my terribly overdue February newsletter! Yes, it is coming this week, hopefully before the end of the week. Doing my Catalogue Launch at the end of the month seriously set everything behind schedule! I'm working like a crazy person to catch up now! And this tutorial is a big part of that!

  • Without giving away too much, in order to change the colour palette, I had to borrow from both the Fine Art Floral and the Hydrangea Hill DSP's to get the soft pastel look here!
  • The Blending Brushes played a big role in this look.
  • The images and sentiment are from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set and the Dragonflies Punch is also needed unless you like to fussy cut!
  • The colours are Mint Macaron and Highland Heather and Pool Party.
This photo tutorial will be free to subscribers to my free monthly newsletter. You can subscribe by adding your name and email address and clicking Sign Up, with the understanding that you can easily unsubscribe any time you like.

Hydrangea Haven Bundle Creates Spring Beauty

hydrangea haven bundle creates spring beauty 1

I love hydrangeas! It's their colours and their abundance, I think that give me so much pleasure in the spring. I wish we had room for one in our yard! Here's the kind I'd like:

A Strawberry Sundae Hydrangea

Although I've heard that the colour of the blooms are affected by the pH of the soil they are grown in, I would love to have mine turn out like this, wouldn't you? How gorgeous is that?

I had fun, at any rate, creating some hydrangea blooms using the Hydrangea Haven Bundle which consists of the Hydrangea Haven stamp set and the Hydrangea Dies. I also used some of the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper in the background.

  • I like the way the Hydrangea Haven stamp set lets you stamp the outline in  black ink such as Memento Tuxedo Black and then has separate solid stamps for the bloom and the leaves so you can use different colours.
  • I also like the way the solid stamps give a variable colour with a watercolour feel to it. It makes it colour the hydrangea blooms in a variable way as they are in real life.
  • There is a die from the Hydrangea Dies that's part of the Hydrangea Haven bundle that die cuts the whole hydrangea out and one that die cuts and embosses a whole row of the tiny, individual hydrangea flowers. I die cut a row in Rococo Rose and a row in Highland Heather.
  • The sentiment is from the same stamp set and is die cut using one of the Tasteful Labels dies.
  • The spritzes in the background are from the old Colour Spritzer Tool that was used with the Stampin' Write markers to get that fine spray.
  • The Pastel Pearls were the final embellishments.
