You Are One of a Kind for As You See It Challenges

It's Friday and time for another As You See It Challenge. This week's is #174 and is a Fill in the Blank challenge, entitled "Something Borrowed...":

It's also seems like an age since I've been able to enter any other challenges, so I thought today's might work well with The Paper Player's latest:

I had to borrow something magical, so I knew which stamp and framelit bundle I wanted to go with. It is from the Myths & Magic Suite in the Occasions Catalogue. I hummed and hawed over the stamp set Magical Days and the Magical Mates Framelits for a long time, but didn't end up buying them, and now that they are going to be retired, as a demonstrator, it doesn't pay me to get them. I did, however, buy the Myths & Magic Specialty Designer Series Paper, but have only been able to use the reverse sides so far, not the sparkly unicorn/dragon/mermaid sides, and I wanted to have a chance to do that! Enter my lovely downline, Karen, with her willingness to share, and I had what I needed.

  • Look at the cute little knight, ready to fight off the ferocious, but sparkly dragon! Before I go any further, I must tell you about my inspiration for this card: My grandson Parker and his chickens!
Parker has a very active imagination, and I'm sure that his lovable chickens were, in his mind, fearsome dragons that he had to protect his loved ones from. Look at his stance in the photo!! I knew that I had to use the knight and the dragon from this set to make my card.
  • As you can see in this photo, both dragon and knight have been coloured in in parts with the Wink of Stella pen to add more glitter and shine to the pieces, then die cut using the Magic Mates framelits and popped up on the Whisper White panel on dimensionals.
  • The sentiment was also stamped in Memento ink., After it was cleaned off, I stamped it again in Lemon Lime Twist. so I could cut out the smaller 'You Are' banner to add with dimensionals as well,. There is a banner die in the framelit set that is perfect for that particular sentiment and I die cut an extra shape out of Lemon Lime twist so I could add it as a backing to the sentiment banner by cutting it in half lengthwise and adding to the top and the bottom of the greeting.
  • The background paper is one of the specialty patterns from Myths & Magic DSP and I backed the Whisper White panel with some Cherry Cobbler cardstock.
My daughter, Parker's mom, who has her own Etsy shop, used this photo to paint a watercolour of the scene:

This looks like the perfect illustration for a children's book!
