Stitched Stars for an Easy Rustic Look Christmas Card

I've been seeing some beautiful rustic-looking Christmas cards around the web and had that old yearning to create something rustic this afternoon, after we got home from another trip down to Vancouver, this time for some Stampin' Up! training on Saturday that was SO valuable!

So I got out my Crumb Cake and Real Red, my Burlap Ribbon, all rustic staples. I found some wood grain DSP from the Come To Gather Designer Series, and visualized how it all would look if I used the beautiful Stitched Stars die set! Here's how it all came together:

• I just love all the options available with the Stitched Stars dies. You have the nested Stitched Stars themselves, you have the option of creating the open frame stars by taking two dies and nesting one inside the other and running them through your die-cutting machine, you have the ornate die cut stars, and flourishes, and finally you have that amazing flourish of many stars. It's a once in a lifetime set that works for many different seasons, not just for Christmas.
• I paired it with it's coordinating stamp set, So Many Stars for the JOY sentiment.
• The Sprig Punch added a little softness to the rustic look with some Whisper White and Sparkle Glimmer leaf sprigs under the burlap ribbon.
• If I had time to add something more I would have added some small sequins or some metallic spatter to the card front I think, but it was a long day of travel, plus the change to standard time from daylight savings and I needed some more sleep!

Delightfully Detailed Thank Yous

There's always a need for more customer thank you cards. Often I rely on my Paper Pumpkin kits for that, but since the last kit was Halloween treat bags, I needed to come up with something on my own. Quite often I will use the Notecard and Envelope packages, but I didn't have any of the regular ones in stock. I did, however, have a package of the Delightfully Detailed Note Cards and Envelopes handy, and what is even better about that is that they already have a great watercolour wash on the front, either Blackberry Bliss or Mint Macaron. Here's how they turned out with the addition of some die cuts:

• The sentiment is die cut with the Thank You Thinlits, which is actually only one thinlit but it's just the right size to be the focal point of the card. I cut ten in Tranquil Tide and ten in Blackberry Bliss.
• I needed a label to mount the sentiment on to give some contrast with the background colour, so I got out the Foliage Frame Framelits and die cut 10 in Grapefruit Grove and 10 in Petal Pink.
• I added some punched foliage to the back of the frames with the Leaf punch shapes in Gray Granite and in Copper Glimmer Paper from the Joyous Noel 6 x 6 Glimmer Paper. I used the Sprig Punch to add Soft Sea Foam sprigs to the Petal Pink frames and Pineapple Punch sprigs to the the Grapefruit Grove frames.
• The finishing touch is a small bow made with the Braided Linen Trim and fluffed out a bit in the tops of the bow loops. The bows are added with Glue Dots.
