You're Sublime for Pals Paper Arts

Crazy day yesterday, as the retired list came out and everyone scrambled to place their orders and the site crashed and then the AMAZING new catalogue became available for demonstrators to see and I couldn't take my eyes off it! So it's a quick post today. This card is one I made for a Quick and Cute Class using a set I haven't used yet called You're Sublime. I very loosely used the sketch from Pals Paper Arts this week for the layout. Tell me you can see it in my design...

Here's a closer look:

• I've always loved that little trailer from You're Sublime, and I've seen some amazing things done with it. I was trying to make a Quick and Cute card and I thought that the Glitter Tape from Sale-A-Bration would look like metallic siding. Meh - jury is still out! The good news is that You're Sublime is not retiring and will be in the new Annual Catalogue, so I can try again with it.
• Another stamp set that is not retiring and will show up in the new catalogue is In the Meadow. That's good news for those of us who like to build scenes with our stamping. I added the trees here as the vertical element in the sketch, inking them with Early Espresso and Mossy Meadow Stampin' Write Markers.
• The background Designer Series Paper and the card base of Blackberry Bliss are a salute to the retiring 2014 - 2016 In Colours that Blackberry Bliss belongs to. The DSP is actually Wildflower Fields, which is a Sale-A-Bration item no longer available.

Flowering Fields for As You See It Challenges

Could it be Friday already? I can't believe that! We're already into our Easter celebrations here with one set of kids already here and one set on the way! I think we're going to decorate eggs tomorrow using the shaving cream technique! Yes, the same as you would do with a card background! I'll take some pictures to show you on Monday!

But Friday means another new challenge for us over at As You See It Challenges today:

It threw me a little because we no longer have a feather stamp set. (Insert pout and sigh!) And I struggled to think what I could use that was narrow enough to fit five of on the card front. Then, I had a happy thought - Flowering Fields stamp set, one of the current Sale-A-Bration rewards! The plants in that set are tall and skinny, perfect for the job! And because there is only a week left of Sale-A-Bration, it would be a good time to feature one of the great items you can earn for every $60 you order!

• I love these images! It's one of my favourite Sale-A-Bration sets this year. The great part is, that because these are all line images without solid centers, they are perfect for inking up with Stampin' Write Markers, so no need to mask and match with the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get different colours on the flowers and stems.
• I added a sentiment from the Picture Perfect stamp set in Rich Razzleberry. I think it was made for this card, don't you?
• I sewed, without thread in the needle, with my sewing machine to get the paper piercing on the front panel. Much easier than using the paper piercing guides, if you ask me.
• The background DSP is from the Wildflower Fields set, also a SAB reward only available for another week! Don't forget to earn those rewards that you just have to have before the week is up. March 31 is the last day! Here's a quick summary of what you can earn:

Dandelion Seeds from Balloon Celebration

One of the things I wanted to try while on the weekend retreat was a making dandelion fluff with the seed images from Balloon Celebration. I had seen a few really beautiful ones on Pinterest. It turned out to be a bit more involved than I thought but I'm happy with the results. I'm dedicating this card to my granddaughter, Cedar, because of these pictures:





She's almost a year older now than when these photos were taken, but she still likes dandelions. My daughter made her that adorable little dress and even dyed the fabric!

Here's a closer look at how I made the card:

• I really wanted to use the dandelion seed Designer Series Paper from Wildflower Fields, a beautiful set that you can earn during Sale-A-Bration (until Mar. 31)! A full panel of it just didn't work with the stamped image, because it drew attention away from the focal point, but when I turned the paper over, the design on the back was perfect for the Smoky Slate/ Basic Gray and Whisper White scheme. I added a narrow strip just to give a little pop of Calypso Coral.
• I learned a lot trying to emboss the image from Balloon Celebration Stamp Set on a piece of Basic Gray cardstock, using White Stampin' Emboss Powder. My first try was too solid and you couldn't see the details. The second try, I only used the large seed image and added some Gorgeous Grunge splatters in the background to add to the airy look.
• The ribbon in the middle of the Calypso Coral panel is Whisper White 5/8" Satin Ribbon. The sentiment is from the Enjoy the Little Things stamp set, which coordinates with the Enjoy the Little Things Project Kit (More about that tomorrow!) I find myself using my scallop circle and oval punches more frequently lately. Nothing else was the right shape for the sentiment and the card layout. With all the rectangular shapes and straight edges, it provided a nice contrast.
