We had a beautiful weekend, with the sun shining and the warm temperatures, and I had a very successful Celebrate Sale-A-Bration event with some great games and lots of amazing door prizes. Make sure you get in on it next year by earning a Sale-A-Bration Award during Sale-A-Bration! That's all it takes! I was having too much fun to take photos, but later I will show you a game we played and you can see if you can solve it!
I want to show you a card a made for both Freshly Made Sketches and Color Throwdown Challenges. It has a neat trick to create a watercolour background using ink and the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. Here are the challenge banners:
I just love that colour combination! I used Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist and Cucumber Crush which are pretty close to the colours on the swatch.
- I had some fun (and frustration) creating the watercolour background using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder and Marina Mist ink. I sponged the debossed side of the embossing folder in a little spot in the middle and spritzed it with water. I placed the cardstock inside and just rubbed it with my fingers. Then I removed the cardstock and dried the paper. The fun and frustration came with putting my cardstock in the right place to get the little patch of colour where I wanted it. You have to think upside down and backwards, which normally isn't a problem for me unless I'm trying to do it on purpose!! I really like the droplet effect that I got, but it's too bad so much of it was covered by the die cuts and sentiments.
- I used the Botanical Builders Framelit Dies to die cut some fern-like leaves from Cucumber Crush - a colour I've only used a handful of times this year, but I really like it with the Daffodil Delight and Marina Mist.
- I stamped the flowers from Grateful Bunch in Memento Tuxedo Black on Daffodil Delight cardstock, then used the Blossom Bunch Punch to punch them out and then I stacked them using some Dimensionals and Glue Dots.
- The sentiment is also from Grateful Bunch, stamped in Cucumber Crush!
The big news is that the Retiring List for products from both the Annual Catalogue and the Occasions Catalogue comes out at noon (PDT) today. I will post a separate post with links to the list. Be ready to act when you see it, as certain popular items tend to disappear within the first few days. I will also post the links on the side bar.
