Adult Easter Cards - Quick and Easy

I don't mail out a lot of Easter cards, but I do send our daughters and their families little Easter gifts and I like to make cards to go along with them. This year two of the three families were with us for Easter and these are the cards we made the adults. Check back here on Friday for the cards I made for the grandkids.

These two samples were made using Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes as the card base, which makes them a little easier to complete, since the notecard size is 3 1/2" x 5".  The background Designer series paper is from the now retired Subtles Designer Series Paper Stacks, using the stripe pattern in Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.

Here's a close up look at them:

  • The Wisteria Wonder card on the left uses 3 stamp sets: Birthday Blossoms for the flowers, You're Inspiring for the sentiment and Hold on to Hope for the cross.
  • The Pansy Punch is used to punch out the large blossom shape.
  • The card on the right just uses the You're Inspiring stamp set for all the images and sentiments. They are stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that they can be coloured in with the Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers - bloth shades of Daffodil Delight and both shades of Old Olive, and the light shade of Crumb Cake. Due to long lead times with the manufacturer of Stampin' Blends and unprecedented demand for them, Stampin' Up! has had to remove them from the available to order list until about the end of May, in order to catch up on backorders and to stock up enough to meet demand, so you'll have to be patient for awhile if you don't have yours yet.
  • Both cards were finished off with Glitter Enamel Dots.

Friday is the last day to get me your orders if you want to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, and Saturday is the last day to submit your own orders through my On-Line Store.

Please get your orders to me by 2 pm Friday if you want me to submit them. If you are shopping online, you have until 11 pm on Saturday to get them in, but I caution you not to wait until the last moment! Please don't be like this sad customer of mine last SAB time:

Remember, you need to have earned a Sale-A-Bration reward during this Sale-A-Bration period to be eligible to receive an invitation to my exclusive "invitation only" party, Celebrate Sale-A-Bration, in April! It's going to be a blast and you could win door prizes of other Sale-A-Bration rewards, so make sure you're on that list!

Birds & Blooms Thinlits Birthday Card

Yesterday, I was able to play around with two things I've been wanting to use for a while. One was the the Birds & Blooms Thinlits that I've had for an age, but never used. Maybe that's because I thought I needed the coordinating stamp set, Best Birds, in order to use it, and I haven't ordered that one yet. Whatever the reason, I finally got that die set out and took it for a spin. The other thing that I've been dying to use is this beautiful pattern from the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper, which is rapidly becoming my favourite from the Annual Catalogue! I took the palette of the whole card from this design, using Pool Party, Powder Pink, Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Suede.

  • I enjoyed creating the bird, by die cutting two, one in Pool Party and one in Soft Suede and saving all the little bits of Soft Suede to embed back in the Pool Party bird. I traced around the outside of the die on some Powder Pink cardstock and hand cut it out inside the line and glued the blue die cut bird on top so that the Powder Pink would show through the speckles on the bird's breast. I covered the Powder Pink layer with Fast Fuse except where the pink would show through and glued the blue layer on top. Then, there was sticky underneath when I went to embed the Soft Suede lines in the wings, tail and head.
  • The branch was created by die cutting it in Soft Suede and Pear Pizzazz and hand trimming the leaves from the Pear Pizzazz copy to add to the Soft Suede branch.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Pool Party. It's from Birthday Blossoms.
  • This is from the inside of the card! I used the same idea, only I used the bird I had die cut in Soft Suede and die cut another in Powder Pink for the lines in the wing. I only added enough Fast Fuse to cover the part of the body that would be covered by the wings.

Time is running out! There are only a few more days during which you can earn bonus days coupons in July to redeem in August! I will be putting in an order this weekend, so message me with your order before then. It must be $60 or more before tax and shipping to earn a coupon. Or shop online at my On-Line Store, 24/7, for the same results!

Corner Flip Card with Birthday Blossoms

During my craft retreat over the past weekend, I was working on class samples and challenges for different challenge blogs. Since the class theme is fancy folds, one design that I wanted my attendees to learn was the Corner Flip Fold. I started out using the colour scheme from last week's Global Design Project's challenge, but then realized that it would end too soon for me to participate this time:

I didn't end up really liking those colours the way I used them for this design, so I chose some different colours that I like much better.

It's a little more subdued - more me! I used Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Sahara Sand with a pop of Watermelon Wonder. Here's a more detailed look at this fancy fold:

  • With a Corner Flip card, you basically cut out two partial sides of a 3" square on the front of the card and that enables you to flip  the corner over, after which you design it. There is a great tutorial here, by Dawn Olchefske, one of my favourite Stampin' Up! bloggers. The only thing that I did differently was to glue down a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of It's My Party Designer Series Paper before making the cuts.
  • I used the Birthday Blossoms stamp set. I love that the flower can be punched out with the Pansy Punch and I also really like the sentiments! It's a very versatile stamp set.
  • One hint on using the flower image. The Pansy Punch is not symmetrical so you need to figure out which petal you want stamped at the bottom of the page so that you can easily line it up with the punch. In this photo, the petal that is at the bottom of each image here happens to be the one that should be at the bottom of the cardstock when you stamp it so that it will line up perfectly with the punch.
Here's the inside, all images from the Birthday Blossoms set:

Give it a try. It really is quite easy and it's fun to do!
