Easter Blossoms for As You See It Challenges

easter blossoms for aysi challenges 1

I feel spring in the air! The days are gradually getting warmer. The ice is gone off the fishpond now. The pruning of our fruit trees has been completed. I can see some little buds on the remaining branches, telling me that beautiful blossoms won't be far off now! Though spring is short in this area, and often fickle, it is welcome, and definitely brings hope with it. More this year than ever, as we get closer to having our vaccine in the next few weeks!

So when I had to choose an idea for an Easter Card for As You See It Challenges this week for our Theme Challenge week, I chose cherry blossoms from the Forever Blossoms stamp set. Here is the Challenge Banner for the theme chosen by fellow Design Team member Joanne:

I just didn't have any Easter specific stamp sets. I had to go to Itty Bitty greetings to get an Easter sentiment to use. I'm excited that it's time to use my Forever Blossoms again:

  • On my Petal Pink cardstock card base, I've layered two different designs from the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper in Petal Pink and Gray Granite. I used some of the same Gray Granite design as a backing behind the sentiment as well.
  • I stamped the images from Forever Blossoms in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Basic White cardstock and coloured them in using Petal Pink Stampin' Blends Combo and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combo.
  • The images were die cut using the Cherry Blossoms Dies. I mounted them on the card front using Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals for the single blossoms.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Memento ink again and die cut along with it's backing using dies from the Tasteful Labels dies.
  • The embellishments are Champagne Rhinestones added to the blossom centers.
Have a great weekend!

Hey, Chicks: I don't want you to forget about the Hey Chick and Hey Birthday Chick Bundles that are still available! So cute! In fact, I think I'm going to get them out and play with them this weekend!

Forever Blossoms for The Paper Players

Happy Wednesday to everyone! We're living in a winter wonderland here as we've had a couple of days of heavy snowfall. But as inconvenient as it is, it looks beautiful, and since I don't have to get up early to drive to work...I'm a lot more forgiving of the weather. It's great being my own boss!

Today, I'm excited to play with The Paper Players, one of my favourite challenge blogs and I'm using a new bundle from the Jan/Jun Mini Catalogue called the Foverver Blossoms Bundle!

Here's The Paper Players' challenge:

and my take on something new was twofold:

1. A new life together, as in a wedding card, and
2. New products to make it from our new mini catalogue!

  • My favourite thing about the suite this set is part of: The Parisian Blossoms Suite is the colour palette: Petal Pink, Champagne, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party. I'm relying heavily on the Petal Pink and Champagne for this card and adding in some Soft Sea Foam for the leaves.
  • The Forever Blossoms stamp set is a DistINKtive stamp set that works really well and looks great stamped on its own, or with some colouring done, as I have here, with the Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam Stampin' Blends Combos.
  • The background paper is from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Series Paper, which has beautiful Parisian and cherry blossom themed designs with champagn foil accents.
  • I used the Heirloom Frames Dies and 3D Embossing Folders to create a rectangular frame from Champagne Foil for my project.
  • The sentiment, which is from the Forever Blossoms stamp set, is die cut with a die from the Painted Labels dies and trimmed along the embossed line. Then another is die cut from the Champagne Foil that came from the middle of the frame and the sentiment is glued in the middle.
  • The blossoms, after colouring, are shaped with a bone folder and glue dots are used to attach to the fram itself, then the frame is glued to the card front.
Hope you enjoyed this project. I want to remind you that you have until the 10th of January to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin to get in on this kit:
