Happy New Year with Large Number Framelits

And here we are on the last day of 2015! I don't see how the year could have passed by so quickly, but then I'm finding myself saying things like that all the time now. What are you doing to celebrate the New Year? I am not a big fan of New Year's parties. I think it's because of the midnight kissing and hugging that happens. Now, I don't mind that with my hubby or with really good friends, but it's when you feel obligated to hug and kiss acquaintances and total strangers that my introversion really kicks in. Personal space is personal space and it doesn't really change just because the clock chimes 12 at the end of the year. But my hubby really does enjoy parties and so I soldier through for his sake. This year we have been invited to the home of some people from our new church and I won't know many people there, so I am a little more apprehensive about it, but I'm sure I will have fun.

I wanted to make a glitzy New Year's Eve card to celebrate the end of the Christmas card making season, so I got out the black, white and gold again for a last hurrah! And I used a new product from the Occasions Catalogue which you will be able to order from in 5 days! It's the Large Numbers Framelits* and they will be very handy for birthdays and anniversaries. And New Years! I used up some more scraps of Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper (I had a lot of it!!) It is retiring in 4 days so if you haven't ordered this yet, better do it soon! It is honestly my favourite holiday DSP ever!

*These products are found in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and will be available to order on Jan. 5, 2016.

Well, where ever you celebrate tonight, I hope you have a lot of fun. And I want to wish you all the best for a happy and prosperous New Year!

What Do You Do with DSP Scraps?

You know how it is! It's almost the end of a season. You have used a lot of your package of Designer Series Paper, except for one or two of the sheets that weren't really your favourites, but you have small bits and pieces of all the other sheets left over. You can't throw them out!! Are you kidding me? They are far to pretty for that, but they are too small to use as a panel on a regular sized card. What do you do with them??

One idea is to get your notecards and envelopes out! These are smaller than a normal card size, measuring 3 1/2" x 5", and you can whip up a package of thank you cards or hello cards or invites really quickly and easily. This is where I use a lot of the smaller pieces of leftover DSP.

I absolutely love the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper and I've used a lot of it this season so far, and plan to use it right up until January, but I also have many, many small left-overs. I decided to work them into some Thank You cards that I needed to make for my customers.

There are 20 cards in a package along with envelopes to match, so I just cut 20 Basic Black panels at 3 1/4" x 4 3/4". I stamped some Thank You sentiments from Six Sayings and One Big Meaning stamp sets on Whisper White and die cut them with suitable framelits, then added a scrap of DSP and the sentiment and topped it off with some Gold Glimmer Paper Stars punched with one of the shapes from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Easy right? But how do they look?

It looks like I planned everything carefully, but the DSP scraps have not been altered. I used them as is! Each of the cards is unique, but the overall design is the same. How do you use up your DSP scraps? Leave me a comment to tell me what you do.

On Line Ordering - Please Read

Lately, I've had a number of people ordering on line through my Stampin' Up! store, but many of them, when choosing me as their demo, are not noticing a little question at the bottom where they can choose either to have no contact with me as the demonstrator, or allowing me to know who they are and their contact info.

I can totally understand if people want to remain anonymous and that is fine with me, but the No Contact is the default setting unless you click on the Yes box. I have a customer loyalty rewards program that I cannot extend to you if I cannot contact you. I would like to send you Thank You cards for your orders, and give you access to some of my customer appreciation events. But I can do none of that if you don't click the box that allows me to see your name, address and email address. I just want everyone to be aware of it.

I don't want to flood you with emails, because I would need express consent from you to send you anything and I usually only send out 1 or at the most, 2 emails a month. So please consider if you would like me to be able to contact you and select that option when ordering.

Don't Forget - Double Papercraft Cat Reward Points in November
Are you collecting my Papercraft Cat points? (One of my customers dubbed them Pickle Points after my papercrafting cat, Pickle!) You earn 1 Pickle Point for every $30 you spend in one order. When you collect 20 points, you will receive a $50 Gift Certificate for Stampin' Up! products. It hasn't been an issue until now, but each point expires two years after the date it was issued. That means the first points I gave out will start to expire in January 2016. To help you gather 20 points before some expire, I am offering you Double Pickle Points during November. You will receive      2 points for every $30 you spend until November 30! Perfect for Christmas Shopping!

(*Note that the minimum for earning points is still $30. You don't get 1 point for $15.)

Happy Halloween!

Well, tomorrow is Halloween, and all the little spooks and goblins will be dressing up and getting sackfuls of treats which they will consume in great quantities over the next week and leave their parents and teachers to deal with the sugar highs and lows. There is also the last full supermoon around now! Parents and teachers - take cover! I love seeing the costumes the little ones wear. The older ones, with the evil and gore - not so much. I love clever costumes that are home made. My little grandson, Parker, wanted to be an astronaut so my daughter put one together using a silver batman costume with the batman logo covered up, a hockey helmet covered in tinfoil and duct tape and a jet pack made out of pop bottles!

Clever Costumes

Think about it!

When I was growing up, as soon as we were old enough, we had to make our own costumes, and we had such a fun and creative time doing that. No one went out and bought costumes. If you couldn't do anything else, you got an old sheet, cut two holes in it and went as a ghost. We would burn corks and use them to draw beards and mustaches and dirt on us and Mom's lipstick added some colour. We also roamed the neighbourhoods in a group and there were no parents along for the night. We went out, got our loot and came home again in the dark and no one worried at all. That would never fly these days, but that taste of independence AND responsibility was heady! We had to look out for each other.

Since today is Friday, it's another As You See It Challenge for this week:

Amanda has come up with another great sketch for us to play with, and since it's my last chance to get a Halloween design in, that's the direction I took for my card.

  • One last chance to use my Happy Haunted Designer Series Paper. The two designs are actually the reverse sides of each other, so I just cut out one 4" x 5 1/4" sheet, cut 1 1/2" off one end and turned it over to get these two to fit perfectly, side by side. I used one of my last pieces of Black Glimmer Paper to cover the transition.
  • I took one of the Spider Web Doilies and cut the mini doily out of the center to add to the middle of my Deco Label die cut, and used the outed part separately, peeking out under the Glimmer Paper.
  • The sentiment is from the Six Sayings stamp set, which you may have gotten the impression that I love! You'd be right, but your time is running out to get this one. You can't just order it. It is a host set, so can only be earned with Stampin' Rewards. You may want to book a party or private class, get your friends together for a night of stampin' fun, and earn some Stampin' Up! enhanced rewards up until Nov. 9. Email me to set your date.
  • Who can tell me how I made the ends on the sentiment panel? Leave me a comment with the answer below and I will email you a free tutorial if you get it right.
Have a great weekend!
