Get Well, Shelli

Some of you may know that Shelli Gardner, the co-founder and CEO of Stampin' Up was badly injured in a
horse endurance race when her horse stumbled, threw her, then rolled over her. She is in hospital in Salt Lake City with a fractured wrist, pelvis and many bruises.  Read the amazing story of her strength through all this here.

I wanted to send my get well wishes in a card to Shelli and I thought that Perfect Plum would be a good colour for a get well card.  So it would double as an entry in Dynamic Duos' Challenge #68:

Here's my card, which is now winging it's way to Riverton, Utah to Shelli:

  • We had a choice in this challenge of another colour to pair with Perfect Plum and I chose Smoky Slate along with the neutral Whisper White.
  • Pleasant Poppies background stamp, inked up in Perfect Plum, does all the work on the front panel.  I just added a double bow for interest in Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon.
  • The sentiment is from Wetlands!  Perfect for this kind of card.
  • A new set I hadn't yet tried, called Blessings from Heaven, provided both inside sentiments, one in Perfect Plum and one in Smoky Slate.
  • Whenever you want an inside panel for your cards, the Top Note Bigz Die will die cut a perfect one for you, with lots of room to write your own personalized greetings.
I am so glad to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator for such a great company, and able to create cards like this in minutes and send them to someone who really needs to know that others care!  Wishing Shelli a quick recovery with less pain each day!

Good Morning, Monday!

Hi, Stampers and welcome to your new week!  I used to dread Mondays, but now I kind of like them, because I'm self-employed and I can do what I want!  Well, sort of.  There are many things I have to do to run my business, but I can arrange my schedule.

And because of that, this will be a short post as I am in the guest bedroom of my sister's house in Vancouver, about to head back home after a whirlwind visit to attend my daughter's baby shower.  She is due in about 17 days to give birth to our latest grandbaby!  She doesn't know the baby's gender and has opted for it to be a surprise, but she and her hubby seem to be in the minority of expecting couples by making that choice.  She says everyone asks her that question, often numerous times and she has had the odd nightmare, where the baby is born and everyone is asking, "Is it a girl or a boy?"  The baby has a diaper on and she's frantically trying to get the diaper off so she can tell, crying, "I don't know,  I don't know!"  She's almost thinking it wasn't worth the hassle to keep from knowing the gender!

Anyway, here's the card I wanted to share with you, but I don't have time to enter the recipe right now.  I'll post the card and then add the recipe when I make it home.  Deal?  Okay!

  • You can see I'm still enamored with the colour combination of Strawberry Slush and Smoky Slate!  This time I threw some Basic Gray into the mix!
  • I love that we are still able to order the paper doilies in the new catalogue!  They add such fun to our designs.
  • Did you notice that watermark stamp?  Some of you may be asking, "Didn't that retire along with French Foliage?"  The answer is Yes and No!  French Foliage is available for today only, along with all the other retiring products from the old catalogue.  So this is REALLY your last chance to order them!  Call or email me by 9 pm tonight!  But if you are a Paper Pumpkin subcriber, that stamp came with your Welcome Kit, and you can still get it by signing up for a Paper Pumpkin subscription!  Let me know, cause there will be other exclusive stamps that you can only get by subscribing!
  • That yummy DSP?  Quatrefancy in the new catty!
  • Oh, Hello has been carried over into the new catalogue.  Aren't you over the moon about that?  I am!

So there you have it!  I will add the recipe when I get home.  Have to get on the road now!  TTFN (Ta,ta for now!)

NEWS FLASH from STAMPIN' UP!!!

...We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog posts with some BIG NEWS this morning from STAMPIN' UP!!

  1. Stampin' Up announces a COLOU REFRESH with our new 2013-14 Idea Book and Catalogue effective May 31 this year.  We say hello to some old favourites from past In Colour collections and good-bye to some of our well-known collection colours, but the new revamp has created some marvellous palettes without a huge disruption.  The best way to explain is to see this chart:

Here's Carrie Cudney from the Home Office with a great explanation:

Those colours that we are saying good-bye to will be available only AS SUPPLIES LAST, so if we are bidding a fond farewell to some of your favourites, you will want to get your orders in quickly.  Call me or email me, or shop on line by clicking on the button for My Online Store on the top right of this page!
I'm SO excited that we get to keep four out of the five 2011-13 In Colours!!  My bewailing must have been loud enough for them to hear all the way down in Salt Lake City!  Woohoo!  I'm also stoked that there is another Shade of Gray! (LOL)

Next news item:

   2.  FREE SHIPPING for 3 DAYS!!!  Stampin' Up has announced FREE SHIPPING on all orders placed April 6 - 8!  So this would be a great time to stock up on some of those retiring colours that you want to horde!  This applies to all products, with no minimums!  Take advantage of this and let me know what you would like to order!

Okay, well that's about all the EXCITEMENT I can handle right now!  CALL ME, we need to talk!
