What is your favourite flavour of lifesaver? I mean, which one will you choose nine times out of ten if given the choice? I think mine would be orange, or lemon....or lime.
You see I love sour over sweet! Give me a citrus fruit over a peach or sweet cherry. One of my favourite snacks is cottage cheese with grapefruit on it. I even love citrus colours. Heck, that was my old decorating colour scheme. Which was the reason I wanted to order the
Apple of My Eye stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue. That slice of citrus stamp was the whole reason and I've been imagining a card like this one for awhile now. I've used the layout of the
Pals Paper Arts Challenge sketch this week:
I had to use some masking to stamp the main image and with that sentiment, also from
Apple of My Eye stamp set, I truly have a sweet and sour card here:
- Masking isn't difficult and it lets you overlap your images, giving the illusion of depth. I first stamped the citrus slice image on a sticky note, making sure some of the adhesive was within the stamped image on the back. I trimmed it really close to the edge of my image to give me the mask.
- On the cardstock, I stamped the image where I wanted the front slice to be. I then covered it with the mask using the sticky adhesive on the back, cleaned the stamp and inked it up in the next colour. I positioned it where I wanted and stamped the image. The part of the image that would be behind the first image I stamped, falls on the mask, which is then removed and it looks as though the lemon slice is behind the orange slice. I then covered the lemon slice with the mask and stamped the lime slice as I did the lemon slice.
- The DSP is from the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack. I knew there was one design in there with lemon slices all over it. It was perfect for this card.
- The stripes on the sketch I made with 3 different colours of Cotton Ribbon: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz. Although they are not the exact colours of the cardstock (there are no current ribbons in Crushed Curry and Old Olive, they still suit the scheme of the card. By the way, I find Fast Fuse Adhesive the best way to securely attach ribbon to my cards.
