The Four Seasons with Sheltering Tree

The beauty of the new stamp set, Sheltering Tree, is that it is good for use in all four seasons of the year.  With different colours and different accessory stamps, you can create a spring scene, a summer landscape, a vibrant fall tree or the cold beauty of winter all using this versatile set:

The Four Seasons by Vivaldi also just happens to be the title of one of my favourite pieces of classical music! Check it out here.  You won't have time to listen to the whole thing, but scroll through the four seasons and see how many of the tunes you recognize.

I thought I could recreate the four seasons on one card, just to illustrate this music so here's how it turned out:

  • I first stamped four full trees with different accessories and colours. Then I cut each picture strategically into 1 1/8" x 3 1/4" rectangles, making sure I had the elements I wanted showing. I then positioned the four rectangles on a 3 3/8" x 5" rectangle of Sahara Sand cardstock. I worked at positioning everything evenly first to figure out what kind of margin to leave between each one, then glued them in place.
  • I added some Crushed Curry 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, gluing it on the back of that panel and then tied a flat knot with a smaller piece of the same ribbon and trimmed the ends.
  • This panel was mounted on a piece of Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper on a Crushed Curry card base.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Whisper White cardstock and trimmed to 1/2" wide.  Guess how I got the design on the ends?  I have a wee gift for the person who can tell me. The sentiment is mounted using Stampin' Dimensionals.

And now, it's Tuesday and time for new....

  1. It looks like the pointy ends of the mosaic punch.

  2. I also think it's the mosaic punch that you used. Very sneaky! I really like this card, it is so full of hope. Hope that winter will soon be over, hope that spring is coming with it's new beginnings, hope that summer will grow and flourish, and hope that fall will bring relief from the heat and ease us into the rest of winter.
