Happy New Year with Large Number Framelits

And here we are on the last day of 2015! I don't see how the year could have passed by so quickly, but then I'm finding myself saying things like that all the time now. What are you doing to celebrate the New Year? I am not a big fan of New Year's parties. I think it's because of the midnight kissing and hugging that happens. Now, I don't mind that with my hubby or with really good friends, but it's when you feel obligated to hug and kiss acquaintances and total strangers that my introversion really kicks in. Personal space is personal space and it doesn't really change just because the clock chimes 12 at the end of the year. But my hubby really does enjoy parties and so I soldier through for his sake. This year we have been invited to the home of some people from our new church and I won't know many people there, so I am a little more apprehensive about it, but I'm sure I will have fun.

I wanted to make a glitzy New Year's Eve card to celebrate the end of the Christmas card making season, so I got out the black, white and gold again for a last hurrah! And I used a new product from the Occasions Catalogue which you will be able to order from in 5 days! It's the Large Numbers Framelits* and they will be very handy for birthdays and anniversaries. And New Years! I used up some more scraps of Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper (I had a lot of it!!) It is retiring in 4 days so if you haven't ordered this yet, better do it soon! It is honestly my favourite holiday DSP ever!

*These products are found in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and will be available to order on Jan. 5, 2016.

Well, where ever you celebrate tonight, I hope you have a lot of fun. And I want to wish you all the best for a happy and prosperous New Year!

Birthday Bloom for Pals Paper Arts

I have a good friend and customer who has been battling cancer for almost two years now. She recently had surgery on Christmas Day, no less, but is hoping it will help her to be more mobile now. She has been on my mind all over the Christmas break and I wanted to send her a special card to let her know that I've been thinking about her and praying for her. She's been through so much!

I used the layout from the Pals Paper Arts' Challenge sketch:

And I made use of one of my favourite techniques, the Whitewash technique!

  • This is a sneak peek of the Birthday Blooms* stamp set from the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue, with the sentiment from the Rose Wonder* stamp set and Designer Series Paper from the Birthday Bouquet* series.
*These products are found in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and will be available to order on Jan. 5, 2016.

This is the card for which I will provide a FREE step-by-step photo tutorial in my up-coming newsletter. It will include photos and clear directions for every step as well as a list of materials and all dimensions. You will learn how to do the Whitewash Technique.

If you would like to receive this tutorial free of charge, you only need to sign up to receive my free monthly newsletter, with the understanding that you can unsubscribe at any time.

One Week Left for the Holiday Catalogue & New Classes Posted

We made it home yesterday afternoon late to about a foot of snow on our rather steep driveway! We had so much to pack in after our week away at our daughter's in Nakusp, that not making it up the driveway was NOT an option, so we took a run at it and made it to the top. We'll get the snowblower running in the morning and take care of it!

We had a lovely holiday and now it's time to get back to business! There are three things I want to let you know about today. One is that my schedule of new winter classes is up. Just click on this link to take you to my Classes page, or click on Classes in the top menu.

The second thing is that there is less than a week to go with the 2015 Holiday Catalogue! January 4th is the last day you can order from this catalogue and then some of the products will be gone for good!! Don't miss out on something you really wanted! Here are some of the products that will be retiring used in some of my projects from past posts. (Click on the links to take you to my website where you can look at and purchase these products if you wish to.)

Although the Hearth & Home Thinlits dies will still be available in the new Occasions catalogue, this stamp set, Happy Scenes, that coordinated with it, is retiring.

The Joyful Season Stamp set with it's larger than life, 4 step stamping cardinal will not be around after January 4th. Get it while you can!

All Ye Faithful was stunning embossed in gold and paired with the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper! Both are retiring!

I loved this Six Sayings Host Stamp Set and I will miss the little Winter Wonderland Embellishments, too!

I had so much fun creating this fireplace scene as an illuminated easel card. It was made with the Festive Fireplace Stamp Set and the Festive Fireside Framelit Dies. The sentiment is from the Cozy Christmas Stamp Set and the wooden Snowflake Elements were best sellers! All are retiring. The Fireplace and Fireside items can be ordered as a bundle to save 15%.

One of my favourite stamp sets, Winter Wishes, will be retiring and gone for good on Jan. 4th. Love the images in this one! The sentiment is from a great Christmas greeting stamp set called Versatile Christmas. It's a good deal and I used it a lot!

The sentiment in this card is from Among the Branches Stamp Set and the vellum is one design from the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. All are on the retiring list.

Another showcase for the Winter Wonderland Specialty Designer Series Paper in an alternate use along with the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack. Get them before they are not available.

Going way back, the Thankful Friends stamp set and the Into the Woods Elements made a whimsical birthday card.

Finally, Lighthearted Leaves make stunning images when embossed in black and highlighted with white gel pen.

Finally, it is Tuesday and time for a new set of Weekly Deals:

Gallery Day at Playing with Papercrafting

Today is likely the day I'm heading home from Nakusp where I spent Christmas with my youngest daughter and her family, and as I'm on the road, I thought it would be a good day for some Stampin' Up! movies and some family Christmas Pictures!  Enjoy! And let me know what you got for Christmas!

Merry Christmas to All from Project Life!

It's Christmas Eve! And I wanted to wish all of my readers a Merry Christmas! Thank you for following me this past year! All six of you! lol There might be a few more of you out there, but I may never know who you are! So this card is for you too!

My card today celebrates Project Life! Did you know that Project Life Card Collections are not just for Memory Keeping? Many of them make awesome homemade greeting cards as well. I just took the Hello December 2015 Project Life Card Collection along with the Project Life Hello December 2015 stamp set and made a quick but cute Christmas card.

  • The card base is Lost Lagoon cardstock then all the rest of the panels are cut from Project Life's Hello December 2015 Card Collection
  • I added a couple of snowflake images from Project Life Hello December 2015 stamp set, using Lost Lagoon ink! I love that design for the snowflakes!
  • One item on this card doesn't belong because it's not from current catalogues, it is found in the new 2016 All Occasions catalogue. It's the Pool Party 3/8" Glitter Ribbon*, or as my upline, Desirée Spenst likes to put it:  Mermaid Ribbon! Very pretty and it worked well with the Mint Macaron and Island Indigo.
*These products are found in the 2016 Occasions Catalogue and will be available to order on Jan. 5, 2016.

Well, I hope that you sleep well tonight, so Jolly Old St. Nick can visit your home with all the special goodies you want or need, but even more, I hope visions of sugar plums dance through your head, because that has never happened to me and I want to know what it feels like! How heavy are sugar plums anyway and what type of dancing do they do? I hope it's not tap! Or break-dancing?? Fill me in would you?
