forever fern for aysi and fms 1

I can't believe it's the end of April!! I swear the time just hurtles by! I'd love to figure out how to slow it down! But it's Friday and time for a new As You See It Challenge today and this one is a beautiful colour challenge put together by Design Team member Amy.

challenge #249

This is our second colour challenge of 2021 and if you enter, you have a chance to be a Guest Designer for our next recipe challenge in four weeks!! But isn't this just the most beautiful colour palette? You'll love designing with this one! Please join us and play along. You have until May 12th to get your entry in.

I used another challenge for my layout. Freshly Made Sketches has a gorgeous sketch that I couldn't resist:

  • I don't want to go into a ton of detail on how this card is made because it will be the subject of my Free Newsletter Tutorial in my May Newsletter. If you are a subscriber to my free monthly newsletter, you will get to download this free photo tutorial when the newsletter arrives in your inbox.
  • If you would like to subscribe to my newsletter, knowing that you can easily unsubscribe at any time, just scroll to the bottom of the page and enter you email address in the feed and hit subscribe and thank you!
  • This card uses the flower image from the Tasteful Touches stamp set and several of the foliage stamps from the Forever Fern stamp set and stamps the image using the colours from the As You See It Colour Challenge. As soon as an image is stamped, Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder is added to it and then it is heat set with the Heat Tool. It's hard to see with the smaller photo, but if you click on the photo to enlarge it you should be able to tell that it is embossed.
  • The ink splatter image on the background is also from the Forever Fern stamp set and is stamped in Soft Suede ink.
  • I've used one of the Gold Hoop Embellishments from the Forever Greenery Suite in the old Annual Catalogue which is only good now until Monday.
  • The texture in the background is created by the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.

Punch Art Moana for My Granddaughter's Birthday Card

punch art moana 1

It's working its way around to Birthday Season 2 (the first one is in January) in the Cooper family again and the first one in this second season is my granddaughter Cedar's birthday!

She'll be 7 this year and although she is really into Minecraft, my daughter tells me that she still really likes Moana as well. So I dug out all my punches and got to work on a punch art creation. I used this photo as a guide:

moana

Here's the result:

  • Most of the punches I've used here are either already retired or are retiring. I don't get rid of too many punches and this is why. Here is a list of the ones I used:  Lemon builder, Owl builder, Vases builder, Tulip builder, 1/2" circle punch, medium oval, Word Window, Fox builder, Detailed Trio, Delightful Tag Topper, Timeless Label.
  • Matching the skin tone was hard. The closest I could get was Cinnamon Cider cardstock.
  • I used Terracotta Tile for her top and sash on her skirt. I added a design from the Tasteful Touches stamp set, stamped in Memento black on her top and Linen Thread completed the embellishments. Her skirt was punched from some In Good Taste textured DSP.
  • Her hair was hard to create. I used the fox tail from the Fox Builder punch and the Tulip leaf from the Tulip Builder punch, but I still got too many fly away bits. Early Espresso and Soft Suede cardstock were the colours I used.
  • Her face was the Lemon builder punch. If I was doing it again, I would trim away the bottom of the lemon more to flatten out the shape.
  • Anyway, I hope Cedar can tell who it is and likes her birthday card.
