Reflected in Nature with Tidings of Christmas

reflected in nature 1

Do you want a peek at one of my favourite stamps in the new Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue? I thought so. It's called *Reflected in Nature and it depicts a cabin in the woods by the lake showing the reflection in either the still water or the water-covered ice. The set that it comes in includes several meaningful sentiments and a flying bald eagle.

*These products are from the 2021 July - December Mini Catalogue and won't be available for sale until August 3, 2021

For today's card, I paired it with the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper and some of the Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon and some Blue Adhesive Backed Gems from the Annual Catalogue.

  • On the Soft Succulent card base is a layer of the Tidings of Christmas Designer Series Paper, with another design of the same series in a strip horizontally across the middle.
  • Over that, in the center of the strip is a piece of the Evening Evergreen Chevron Weave Ribbon.
  • The *Reflected in Nature main image is stamped in Misty Moonlight on Basic White cardstock and then I use paper snips to fussy cut around the edge making a white border, reminiscent of the torn paper borders around the old photos.
  • The sentiment was stamped on a strip of Basic White cardstock and mounted on the card front with a mixture of adhesive and a mini dimensional on the right.
  • The Blue Adhesive backed Gems are added, some of each colour.

Christmas Season Bundle for the August Newsletter Tutorial

painted christmas suite for newsletter tutorial 1

One of the more versatile suites in the new Jul/Dec Mini Catalogue, that will be open for shopping starting Aug. 3, is the *Painted Christmas Suite, which features images that look hand painted, both stamped images and Designer Series Paper. This suite has two bundles that go with it and will really give you all you need to make some awesome Christmas greeting cards this year.

*These products are from the 2021 July - December Mini Catalogue and won't be available for sale until August 3, 2021

This sample that I'm showing you happens to be one that I designed for a team swap event that I organized for my downline, and I will show you the samples that I received from them when I get them all. I'm excitedly checking the mail daily!

But I decided that this would be great as a newsletter photo tutorial as well. If you subscribe to my free monthly newsletter then you will get a free link to a step-by-step tutorial, illustrated with clear photos, plus a list of materials and tools used with measurements, for this card. To make sure you don't miss this tutorial, scroll down to the bottom of this page, fill in your name and email address in the form and hit submit to join my email list. I usually send out only 1 email a month. It is also very easy to unsubscribe from my list if you choose to.

  • Without giving too much away, you're seeing the *Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper in its hand painted splendour on the card front along with some die cut foliage from the Brushed Silver Foil from the *Silver Foil Specialty Pack.
  • There are various stamped and die cut elements on the circle panel on the front. They are from the *Christmas Season bundle.
  • The sentiment is from the *Christmas to Remember bundle.

A Little Smile Card Kit from Stampin' Up!'s Kit Collection

a little smile card kit 1

Today I wanted to feature another one of the kits from Stampin' Up!'s new Kit Collections, to show you just how much fun stamping can be and to let you know about a new kind of class that I will be having this month.

These cards will be featured in my Monday Morning Facebook Live video on my Playing with Papercrafting Business page this morning at 11 am PDT, so please join me then to learn more about this kit, the Kits Collection in general and about my new class coming up on Tuesday, Aug. 17th. I will post a replay of my Facebook Live here later in the day.

These kits are meant to be completed as they are and they are great for any kind of stamper, but especially for someone who is just starting out. They are easy, you don't need a whole lot of equipment, they are all inclusive, they focus on the basics and heck, they are just fun and give you a great looking result!

There are two types: Non-stamping for $16.25, which just requires assembly and the stamping required kits which are $26.00. Both are really affordable though. The one I will be showing you today is one of the stamping required kits called A Little Smile and it has a tropical beach theme!

With this kit you make 8 small note cards with envelopes and there is even a cute pouch to store them in! Clear printed directions are included and all the elements that you see in the cards above. Plus you get a stamp set with some cool stamps on it that you can keep for other projects and a Coastal Cabana ink spot that you can also save to use again.

Tune in this morning at 11 am to watch the live video or watch the replay either on Facebook or here.

august craft 'n connect class on zoom

Whether you are just a beginner to stamping or a seasoned veteran and avid stamper, you might be interested in a new, relaxed kind of class I will be starting on Tuesday, Aug. 17th. This Kits Class is focussed on the experience of crafting together and forming community, rather than on learning new techniques and tools. If you want to belong to a fun, caring group of people who get to know each other while crafting together, then this is the class for you! The way it works is that you purchase the kit of your choice prior to the class either from my Online Store or let me know so that I can place the order for you. On the night of the class, we meet via Zoom (and eventually, maybe in person) and assemble our kits while we enjoy the fellowship. I am available, while assembling my own kit, to provide guidance and answer questions.

Celebrate Sunflowers with As You See It Challenge #255

celebrate sunflowers for aysi #255 1

Wait! What?? It's time again for As You See It Challenges? Impossible! Didn't we just do that last week? I guess not because it's time for the next Colour Challenge and this week we have one that will make you go looking for a pumpkin spice latte and have you pull all your sweaters out of the closet! Check out the Challenge Banner for As You See It Challenge #255 - Autumn Warmth:

challenge 255
Am I right? Aren't these delicious colours?

I decided to do something with sunflowers - still summer, but definitely fall colours, and I wanted to use that older stamp set again, just to remind you of the beautiful sets we have in the Annual Catalogue that have been carried over from the past year or two.

celebrate sunflowers with aysi challenge #255 2

  • To be honest, I had a whole different concept for this card at first, but it just didn't turn out the way it looked in my head, so I had to start again with something a little cleaner and with smaller images.
  • The small sunflower images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured in with Stampin' Blends Markers in Calypso Coral, Cajun Craze and Mango Melody instead of Crushed Curry. The leaves were watercoloured with a Blender Pen in Garden Green ink.
  • They were die cut with the Sunflowers Dies, along with some grasses in Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze and mounted on a piece of Basic White cardstock that had been stamped with the sentiment and embossed with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
  • The Cajun Craze card base is layered with a Crushed Curry layer as well.
  • The final touch was some of the *Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots that will be available on Aug. 3 from the July/Dec Mini Catalogue.
