Beautiful, Peaceful Boughs for an October Newsletter Tutorial

Well, I can't believe it's already the end of September! Where the heck did that month disappear to? And already we have snow in the mountains! That's ludicrous!! It's going to be a long winter.........

But that means that it's time for a new newsletter and a new photo tutorial for that newsletter and I designed a card for that tutorial today. Better late than never, I always say. This was my first time playing with the Peaceful Boughs stamp set AND the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint. I had a blast. That stuff really works!

Here's a closer look:

  • Some skills you'll learn with this tutorial: a)How to use the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint  b)Using the Stamparatus to help you change one word in a sentiment to an embossed word  c)Layering leaves and/or branches to look realistic
  • You will receive this free tutorial by subscribing to my free monthly newsletter, with the understanding that you can easily unsubscribe at any time. It is a photo tutorial with step-by-step photo illustrated instructions, including a list of materials used with measurements and  quantities.

Feels Like Frost Again for As You See It Challenges

It's time again for a new As You See It Challenge, and this time it's a recipe challenge, cooked up by Chef LeAnne Pugliese! A recipe challenge gives us elements that we have to include on our project, but where we put them, what size and colour they are, and how we visualize them are up to us. And I'm still on a Feels Like Frost kick (as I make samples for my Catalogue Launch tomorrow) so that suite forms the basis of my card. Here's the Challenge Banner:

And here's how I put the ingredients together:

  • I have several die cuts on my project, including the leaf and the tag, but the main ones involve the Frosted Frames dies, one in Petal Pink and the inside sentiment panel that I just used as a Smoky Slate backing to another Feel LIke Frost DSP panel. The Feels Like Frost inside panel was cut with the same die as the one that cut the Smoky Slate panel, but I had to readjust it and run it through several times to accomodate the size of the smaller panel.
  • The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings and is stamped on Petal Pink, then die cut with one of the tags from the new Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box Dies.
  • The leaf is die cut from the Seasonal Layers Dies.
  • The twine is tied to the tag then run around the DSP layer, anchoring the tag in the straight position with a glue dot.
Hope you find time to play along with us this weekend!!

You Warm My Heart for Global Design Project

A very busy week with my Catalogue Launch coming up at the end of it, so a quick post with a card for the Global Design Project's latest Challenge. It's a Case the Designer theme and the designer is one I've always admired, Krista Frattin. Here's the Challenge Banner and card to CASE.

We can choose any aspect of the card to CASE - colour, layout, theme or images. I chose colours - pinks and neutrals, and roughly the layout.  Here's my take:

  • I'm using the Feels Like Frost Suite right now to make samples for display for my catalogue launch so I chose one of the neutral coloured ones for this challenge, and paired it with Petal Pink, because Petal Pink looks so awesome with any of the brown based neutrals.
  • I used the Frosted Foliage stamp set for the sentiment and die cut it with the frame die from the Frosted Frames dies. I just die cut the top of the sentiment, then readjusted the die and die cut the bottom of the sentiment to make a narrower rectangle.
  • The ribbon is the Sahara Sand woven ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon combo pack.
  • The little bits of foliage were die cut with the Frosted Frames dies from bits of Petal Pink, Sahara Sand and Whisper White cardstock and added to the horizontal bar of cardstock and the sentiment before attaching them to the card front.
  • The pearls are coloured with the Dark Petal Pink Blends Marker, and balance the sentiment panel .

Just a reminder that there is only one week left in the Buy 3, Get 1 Free promotion for Designer Series Paper. Good until September 30. Here are the details:
