Scenic Coast for As You See It Challenge #379 - Hastened Handicrafts

 

Oh oh! Time for another Speed Challenge, where you are tasked with making a card with a certain theme in under 10 min.! And, yes, you have to time yourself!! You can plan your card ahead of time, gather your materials, mount your stamps, open your ink pads, but the second you start cutting paper, inking stamps, or die cutting, you have to start the timer! This time, the theme is Crafting, thanks to yours truly! I think you probably have a little knowledge about that, am I right?? Take a look at my Challenge Banner:

I thought I had some DSP for crafting, but then, when I couldn't find it, I remembered giving it away as a prize at my last crop! So I had to pivot! I still had an old bundle called Crafting with You that had a variety of crafts represented, including painting. It had an easel stamp and die cut, and using that allows you to fussy cut the canvas from some DSP to attach to the easel. I chose the amazing Scenic Coast DSP, with all it's contrasts and brush strokes and metallic accents to use for that. Here's how it turned out:

• I started with the card base of Strawberry Slush, cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and scored on the long side at 4 1/4". I added two panels, one of Crushed Curry, measuring 5 1/4" x 4". and one of Basic White, measuring 5" x 3 3/4".
• I die cut an easel using the Crafting with You dies from Early Espresso cardstock.
• I stamped an easel on the design you see of the Scenic Coast 6" x 6" Scenic Coast DSP, centering the canvas part of the easel on the sunrise of that particular design. I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp it.
• I die cut it using the Crafting with You easel die again, but this time I trimmed around the canvas with my Detail Scissors and glued it to the easel, adding it all to the card front using Mini-Dimensionals.
• I stamped, coloured with Blends, and die cut the paint brush images from the set, then mounted it on the left side of the easel, using a combo of Mini Glue Dots and Mini Dimensionals. 
• Finally, I stamped the sentiment on Basic White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink and used the Detail Scissors to trim around it, then adhered to the top of the card front.
• The whole project left me with 3 minutes and 47 seconds left on the timer from 10 minutes, which means it took me 7 minutes and 13 seconds to make.
