Beautiful Moments So Sweetly Stitched

When I attended the virtual Creative Escape two weekends ago, we were given various challenges throughout the event. One of them was a colour challenge and the colours we were asked to create a project with were the following:

I was attracted to those colours right away and knew that I wanted to take part in that challenge. As time was somewhat limited, it couldn't be an elaborate design, but I thought it would be perfect for another Beautiful Moments image and a chance to enhance it with my new Ornate Layers Dies. Here's how it turned out:

  • On my card base of Pretty Peacock, I added a panel of Crumb Cake, die cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies, quickly becoming one of the staple die sets that I now use.
  • Then I wanted to use a more decorative frame for the main image so I got out the So Sweetly Stitched Dies and used the largest Scalloped Rectangle for the Pool Party backing.
  • I stamped the image in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White cardstock and coloured it very quickly with the Pool Party Stampin' Blends Combo Markers.
  • The sentiment, also from Beautiful Moments, is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink. This would make a really nice Mother's Day card, if you changed out the sentiment, though.
  • The final touch was a coloured Rhinestone, a Pool Party one from the Holiday Rhinestones and a Pretty Peacock one from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones. There is also a tie of Braided Linen Trim around the Crumb Cake and Pool Party layers. I pre-tied it on a Clear Block D, then cut it and attached it to the project.

Come to a Virtual Party with me Tomorrow Night

To help its demonstrators out, many of whom are hurting because they can't hold in-person classes, Stampin' Up! is throwing a Virtual Party Thursday evening from 6 to 7 pm Pacific Daylight Time! This will be a fun event, with games, product demonstrations, and I can't promise, but maybe prizes??? There's no obligations for just attending and enjoying yourself, but should you want to purchase anything, you would do that through your own demonstrator!
To take advantage of this fun opportunity,  click HERE and ask to join this temporary Facebook group.

Now, yesterday, I was so busy working on a tutorial for this card, that I actually forget to get today's blog post up in time:

This will be the card that I'm doing a free photo tutorial for to include with my May newsletter!  The technique you would be learning is creating an alcohol ink background using your Stampin' Blends! You would be able to download the tutorial in PDF form if you were a subscriber to my newsletter, which is also free and comes once a month, and let's you know about all of Stampin' Up!'s latest promotions and my own classes, which now include online options. To subscribe, simply add your email address to the field and hit Go!

April Paper Pumpkin Alternatives - Customer Thank You Cards

April's Paper Pumpkin cards were lovely ways to reconnect with our families during this time when we can't be together physically, but there were a lot of leftover bits and some nice stamps to use, particularly the tree stamps. I needed some more customer thank you cards, so I commandeered the leftovers of the kit, turned the tree stamps into blossoms and hydrangeas, and created some nice spring-themed full sized cards for my lovely customers, who are still supporting me even though they can't attend live classes at this time.

  • For the first sample, Pear Pizzazz was used for the card base and a piece of Bird Ballad DSP, which will be retiring June 2 or while supplies last,  formed the background.
  • On a piece of Whisper White, I used Sahara Sand ink with the tree trunk stamp from the April '20 Paper Pumpkin kit for the tree trunk and then stamped the tree top stamp twice using Petal Pink ink. It was a little trickier getting the two sides to meld properly without the guides from the kit paper to help, but I got better the more I did.
  • With plenty of die cut birds and butterflies to spare, I added a whole bird and either a whole or a half butterfly (a half butterfly looks like a resting butterfly with its wings up) to the blossoms.
  • Then a bow made with some retired Silver & Petal Pink Baker's Twine was added.
  • The sentiment, from Woven Heirlooms stamp set is stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink and punched with the Classic Label Punch and added using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • For the second sample, the Pear Pizzazz base has a Soft Sea Foam layer embossed with the retiring Tufted 3D Embossing Folder.
  • I stamped the tree top stamp inked with Flirty Flamingo onto some Blushing Bride cardstock and fussy cut it.
  • It was mounted on the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. The leaf die cut from the Paper Pumpkin kit was added using Liquid Multipurpose Glue with a bow from Braided Linen Trim added using a Glue Dot.
  • The sentiment, from Timeless Tropical, was stamped onto one of the labels from the Paper Pumpkin kit in Flirty Flamingo, and a flag, cut from some retiring Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper is added to the sentiment label using Glue Dots.
  • Then the whole thing is added to the project using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here are the links to the last chance products again. Remember to put in your orders early before things sell out, because once they are gone, they are gone for good, even if it's before June 2nd.
